Any multi platform GUI toolkit with a cross-compilable language will give you twice the functionality in half the development time over HTML+CSS+JavaScript.
Hundreds of companies have tried to solve this exact problem for years and already did the cost/benefit analysis. It turns out that writing almost all of your code exactly once is cheaper than doing it in the multiple stacks that would be required with whatever your dream architecture is. They are not idiots just because you want them to be.
You sound like someone with zero practical experience in this area who just wants to rant about code purity. The rest of us are trying to get shit done while you pine for a perfect technology stack that will never exist.

The rate of girls identitying as liberal is significantly higher and unlike the conservative boys, the rate hasn’t started dropping off. Probably because the girls face actual threats to their freedoms, while the conservative boys’ complaints are about a bunch of imaginary nonsense.

She’s abusing her office to make money, to me the distinction is only in degrees of criminality. These justices are acting like they’re above the law because they basically are, which is unacceptable. Judges in general have way too much power.
If a regular federal employee or contractor did something similar they’d lose their job and probably go to prison. A janitor at the FBI is held to a higher standard then supreme court justices are.
Yeah I’m so sick of hearing about the Green Party. Yes they suck, but we have data on who green voters are, and only about 30% of them said they would vote for a Democrat if there was no green candidate.
It’s a convenient excuse for establishment Democrats to avoid taking responsibility for their losses, but doesn’t hold up to any level of scrutiny. Their biggest issue is consistently failing to motivate their own base. Obama understood that Democratic voters respond well to positive campaign strategies while Clinton and Biden cling to 90s triangulation strategies. Which didn’t even work back then they just got lucky that Ross Perot existed.
Green Party voters vote against the system. You can’t blame losses on them because the vast majority would simply sit the election out instead of voting for a Dem.
I don’t have any advice, but I’m seeing bugs even in Windows. The right click menu in the system tray isn’t sized properly so half of it is cut off and there’s no way to select the cut off menu options, even with keyboard input.
I have to open up the entire app just to exit steam. I’ve seen other UI bugs too.
I think the new UI is nice overall but it’s very buggy. Might not even be an issue with Linux, just a buggy app.
I’ll take that any day over having my girlfriend’s rights at risk because suburban soccer moms fell for CRT BS and decided to elect a christo fascist looney tune governor of VA. Because of them it’s now illegal to watch porn without submitting photo ID, they derailed our weed legalization, they’re pissing away the state’s massive surplus to help rich people and they keep trying to ban and undermine abortion rights.
Meanwhile in Mass you’ve got legal weed, actual efforts to address inequality, women’s rights perfected and among the best standards of living in the country? Count me in. It’s not like mad transit is miracle down here, the metro is horrendous.
There’s no state in this country that’s free of major corruption at this point. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a red blue or purple state, corruption is everywhere, and there are basically zero moderate republicans. I’ll take corrupt secular governance any day over these crazy fundamentalists, who are apparently very electable even in a light blue state and even more corrupt than most Dems
My girlfriend noped out of lemmy pretty much immediately after I tried to explain how to set it up and use it. Objectively, it’s a lot more confusing than signing up for something like reddit. She’s also pretty tech savvy, so I can’t imagine normies making the transition in mass.
If these federated alternatives are going to become mainstream, someone will have to step up with an implementation that greatly improves usability and accessibility. Meaning that federation will probably have to be masked to a large degree to reduce confusion. Maybe something more like a distributed network instead of a federated one.
As soon as you start talking techbro nonsense like federation and decentralization, people’s eyes glaze over. People don’t care how things work, they just care that it does what they need it to.
Hate to say it but a lot of us in tech, especially the devs, are really out of touch with end users. They aren’t philosophizing about the internet. I understand why people are excited about the idea of decentralization, and why it matters, but it has to be presented in a way that’s much simpler for people to understand if we actually went people to get on board.
Then we shouldn’t call them JRPGs.
