Speaking Monday at a mining convention in downtown Toronto, Ontario Premier Doug Ford doubled down on threats to cut electricity exports to U.S. border states if the tariffs go through.

I cant see this happening. Cutting power exports would sure hurt the us citizens but it would also hit canadians just as bad. Not getting paid for power would be a huge hit for us. I could see some tarrifs being placed on power but not fully cut. Plus ford is a goof and i dont trust a word he says…

Yeah, well we couldn’t see tariffs happening either. Get ready for a whole lot of radical decisions in the wake of US fascism. Remember they chose this.

Power sector is certain to be saved from bankruptcy if somehow that was threatened. Sure, increasing export tariffs to 100% or 200% is a better response than cutting them off.

Overall export tariffs is the best option to raise revenue without adding to inflation for Canadians.
