He’s fucking himself?
Yes
Oh no!, someone you have never met or interacted with in any meaningful way feels some empathy for someone else that you have never met or interacted with in any meaningful way!!, its the end of the world, society is collapsing, dogs and cats are sleeping together!!!
It was a fucking question, it harms no one. A human being was expressing their feelings about something. Get over it.
It’s weird… do you think Elliot cares what OP’s pirated copies list their name as, when the legal copies on stream have already updated the name? Would it not be better to pay for the content and support the artist that way?
This is one of the strangest virtue signals I’ve ever seen. Just watch the mediocre show and move on.
Move along, you’re the only one who has reacted this way in a surprisingly considerate thread (my Facebook has turned to utter shite of late and I have no idea why).
Nah, I’m just leaving it since that was part of his transition, both in character and in real life. To deny that would be to deny his story.
I don’t know but I think its cute that this worries you and I hope you find the files you want :)
Actually that would be really neat if someone did that. I recently watched Hard Candy with a friend (good god that movie is horrifying) and for some reason the deadnaming (even though it isn’t actually deadnaming) just feels really weird and awkward and uncomfortable. More so than him just playing a woman. It’s strange.
Also wonder how he feels about that whole thing, come to think of it.
Right? I put off rewatching it for so long bc watching him play a woman felt wrong. But it’s the name that feels most wrong
Netflix updated the credit with his name? Thought they would ignore it until S3 as they would need to pay an editor to fix that.
Just started S1E1 to check, and the credits on Netflix are indeed updated.
Do you know if he actually went by his current name back then? I mean, actors and other celebrities (and people in general) change their names all the time which is reflected in whatever documents they produce at specific points in time.
Most common are changes in marital status. But especially actors and other artists often have a stage name, which might change as well.
So, this might not solve your problem, but maybe you could just watch the earlier episodes with the knowledge that he had a different stage name back then.
I’m really curious what he thinks about it. On the one hand, his female roles are a big part of his career, and he’s been a solid actor for years. On the other hand, I can totally empathize with just not wanting to see that name ever again.
It’s not the same thing, but we don’t go back and edit credits when actors change their names because of marriage or divorce, but that’s less about their identity as a person and more just that they got married, so not a great example.
Can any trans folks chime in with their thoughts on how to deal with retroactive credits? Doesn’t have to be just film and television, but anywhere that people are credited for their work. Super curious what people think the standard should be.
Erasing the past won’t change it.
Sort of, but not really I don’t think. Page didn’t suddenly wake up one day and think: oh, I’m a boy! So altering previous digital works (within the realms of possibility) may better reflect how he had felt for however long he did. If there is a want and a way, there shouldn’t be a reason not to edit the name on currently streaming services.
This is offtopic here.
