It really does depend, so I mainly was speaking from my personal experience. But this is also why using both is recommended for *aar, because then you get the best of both worlds.

It’s understandable, sure. It’s also a little more complex up front. For me personally, the pros outweigh the cons and I’d much rather use Usenet over torrenting, even with the cost.

I definitely think it’s DMCA, unfortunately.

For indexers, I have DrunkenSlug, nzbgeek, and nzbplanet. My backbone providers are UsenetExpress, FrugalUsenet, and Giganews. You can use https://whatsmyuse.net to make sure you don’t have overlapping backbones.

The main benefit is that you don’t need to use a VPN, so you get full download speeds. Also the availability and download speed isn’t dependent on seeders, so more obscure content tends to survive longer on Usenet.

That’s not the problem here unfortunately. This is usually a complete take down on the server side, and has nothing to do with their location.

Usenet, while way better than torrenting, still requires multiple indexers and providers for this reason. I have 3 of each and rarely ever run into this issue except for very niche releases.

Crontab to just auto reboot daily is probably better - if your PC becomes unresponsive I doubt it would be able to execute another script on top of everything. Ideally though, you’d do some log diving and figure out the cause.

I got a NUC on ebay for about the same price, maybe a little less. Has more I/O and an SSD.

That was the best part, it was like no humans were in the building for a bit there.

Similarly, I started using Grayjay after paying for YouTube for years. I’ll never go back due to the significant QoL changes that Grayjay offers.

Bad news regarding AlphaRatio [partially back up on 2024-02-06, see post for update]
More lost keys.. From a [reddit post](https://old.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/1aiqtgd/news_from_ar/): > Just seen this on IRC: > "the TLDR is basically: Best case, site comes back up we continue and change things in the backend, okay case, site is down for a little bit while we rebuild backend with likely a new domain, and worst case we close out and refugee you all elsewhere (we might still do this last part too hook up the community even if we are working on the backend" > ETA: IRC admin wrote "I'm currently trying to set up a place where refugees can go to" > ETA2: As far as I understand, someone went away and I quote "without the return of (this person), AR's continued existence is up in the air, we are attempting to work on solutions but he unfortunately seemed to hold more keys to the castle than we were fully aware." 2024-02-06 update: > Hey AR Community, > It's been a stressfull few days. > We are diligently working in the background to try to avoid issues like the last few days going forward. We are also working to establish a more robust backend that doesn't depend on any single point of people failure. > Keep an eye out for changes and thanks for sticking with us as we get over the bumpy road ahead. Yes we know certain things are not working, we are working on it. > Most of all and above all else, I want to thank our community and our committed members. The out pouring of love has been incredible. The amount of love shown by everyone in this turbulent time has been eye opening to say the least. > Thanks > AR Staff

Yes, according to their historical data Seagate drives appear to be on the higher side of failure rates. I’ve also experienced it myself, my Seagate drives have almost always failed before my WD drives.

This is misinformation, I have always known what drives to expect when shucking. Not only that, but you can tell what drive is inside just by plugging it in before shucking to check. I’ve shucked over 16 drives so far and all were exactly as expected.

The drives for WD are white label, but they’re WD Reds. They’re cheaper because they’re consumer facing, no more, no less. Have you been bitten by shucking in the past? I’m confused why else you’d be saying it’s a risk. The only risk associated is warranty related.

That info can be found in the smart data for the drives, but I didn’t mean 10,000 hours, more like > 50,000

The NAS itself will likely outlive the drives inside, just the nature of things. Hard drives follow a sort of curve when it comes to failure, most fail either immediately or in a few 10000 hours of run time. Other factors include the drives being too hot, the amount of hard power events, and vibration.

Lots of info on drive failure can be found on Backblaze’s Drive stat page. I know you have shucked drives, these are likely white label WD Red drives which are close to the 14TB WD drive backblaze uses.

Something called “Shelter”, the raid pictures in the article definitely don’t make it look like the largest.

There’s no way to “clean” them. Trust, I understand the desire, but I’m not sure using pirated plugins on production e-commerce sites is the best idea. If your website gets malware from it, your customer data is at risk along with the business itself.

Some plugins have simple variables to check if you purchased, and you might be able to change it in the plugin editor and get the full features. This won’t work for plugins that phone home.

Unless you have a seedbox, I’d still use a VPN on private trackers. You don’t want to expose your actual home IP address - anyone can see it when you’re torrenting (in the peers tab). You are correct that most companies that DMCA aren’t following private trackers and therefore it’s unlikely that you’d get a “love letter” but again I’d use a VPN for your home ISP.

As for getting into private trackers, there’s an OpenSignups community here. Otherwise, you have to usually know someone with invites to get in.

Private is so much better, availability and speed wise. For most, as long as you build ratio with freeleech torrents, you’re fine.

Was about to mention Mikrotik. They even have a 100GBit switch for under $800 (CRS504-4XQ-IN).

You can redirect all DNS traffic to your own DNS server to get around this.

I’m curious where you run into there not being a YAML option? There’s almost always Open in YAML somewhere.

I can’t speak for Proxmox specifically, but Duplicacy works great on my unRAID box and has a fully built out GUI. One of the best solutions I’ve found for my uses so far.

You are probably correct! I always forget about the UID…

You might try adding :rw after each of your volume paths, like this:

volumes:
      - /path/to/appdata/config:/config:rw

My honest suggestion would be to ditch Duplicati for Duplicacy. Duplicacy is one time payment, but it’s much more polished than Duplicati. I actually had major issues with recovering files from Duplicati; sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn’t. Not ideal for something as critical as backup software.

Most health care providers go over risks and benefits prior to initiating any kind of treatment.

Sure, most do. I’m talking about those that do not.

and are at risk for metabolic diseases and cardiovascular complications

Seems pretty close the intended use in this case? Not sure this would qualify as the off-label use I’m talking about.

Or would you prefer that fat people remain fat until they develop diabetes (and its various associated complications) before I’m even allowed to discuss semaglutide?

When did I say that? I said nothing of the sort. I’m specifically talking about those that aren’t even overweight using it, or those without risk factors for diabetes. Because that’s happening, and it’s happening a lot.

People don’t jump straight to an expensive injectable drug as the first option for weight management.

This is not true for everyone. Many see Ozempic as a “magic bullet” for weight loss when that is not what it is.

Of course it’s early, but Ozempic rebound is a real thing that you can easily search to study. Here’s an example for you: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/03/29/people-taking-obesity-drugs-ozempic-and-wegovy-gain-weight-once-they-stop-medication.html

Maybe you were the one pulling “facts out of your ass”?

Because not every doctor tells their patients the risks, including that you must continue taking it or risk gaining more weight back if you stop. It’s making more people overweight in the long run because they stop due to serious headaches (the most common side-effect).

You are correct that it’s the drug company at fault here too, not just the public. It’s also the fault of doctors that are continuing to prescribe it off-label for weight loss.

Gotta love people taking drugs from others that actually need them. The off label use here should be seriously looked into.

Maybe I’m the weird one here, but even in college I never had to PHYSICALLY WRITE code.

Duplicacy is a great solution, well worth the cheap price. It can do changes only over many different protocols.

I also would recommend setting up something like Uptime-Kuma on it, and also an instance of it home. This way you have an external monitor for your own home network, but also a monitor for your backups! Both Duplicacy and Uptime-Kuma can run on docker.

Regardless of service, if you don’t test your backups, you have none.

Is there a way to audio balance the max gain on all of my 60TB+ library?
I keep getting my ears blown out because of sonarr downloading quiet rips. How can I fix this? Plex doesn't seem to have any settings to do it.
