Just wait until you hear about what his brother wants to do. Privatize healthcare. And conservatives are jumping for joy about it.

Kinda weird that conservatives bitch non stop about a few bucks in taxes, but think paying $15,000 out of pocket for an x-ray is the way.

Or Windows just works on so much different hardware. You can build a PC with the weirdest mix and match of hardware, and Windows will just… work. Also I bought a Microsoft sidewinder wheel from 1998 from a thrift store for $8, plugged it into my Windows 10 PC, and it just worked. Nothing special was needed. 1998 hardware literally plug and play on Windows 10 (and I’ve tested it on 11, and it works the same).

You can install MacOS on non-Apple hardware, but you need to buy very specific hardware, and download very specific hacks, to make it work.

Even Linux only works on specific hardware. This entire thread has people talking about how broken Linux is on their setups. The suggestions are to buy specific hardware and run very specific versions of Linux.

Going to be honest, I don’t really care that I got rid of my VHS tapes and 480p DVDs.

Lemmy is no different than Reddit. Just constant reposts.

It feels worse on Lemmy because the amount of content is so low. Really sucks.

The conservatives in Canada are switching people to a biosimilar insulin to save money. They save $2 per pen. The kicker? A vast majority of people are noticing that the biosimilar doesn’t work as good, and they need 2-3x more units to get the same effect.

Now I’m no mathematician, but there goes your $2 savings when someone is using 2-3x more pens than they were.

Meanwhile all conservatives want to privatize healthcare because they think Americans walk in, pay $100, and get seen within 5 minutes.

I try to tell them that they have the same wait times and pay thousands. At least in Canada we don’t leave the ER with a bill. They don’t listen, though.

If you’re leaving you don’t need to be there in the first place.

I went a couple months ago, waited 2 hours, and then was hospitalized for a week.

My girlfriend went 4 days ago. Waited 3 hours for stitches.

If you’re able to leave, you never should’ve come in the first place.

I think that’s the worst part. It just looks like an untrustworthy clone that is trying to steal your info.

Seems weird not to build your own identity, especially when torrents aren’t always safe.

Roland Versa Studio.

Cut Master 4

Affinity Designer

Adobe Illustrator

Do you call everyone a troll that isn’t a Linux fanboy like you?

Or… Linux can’t run the software and hardware I require for my job? I literally said in the original comment.

I also have my own business. I don’t have a boss.

I don’t? Are you assuming because I clicked a random post I saw on the active tab that I run pirated Windows?

That’s interesting. My speed with Rogers ignite have been extremely stable.

I just hate the fact they increase my bill randomly and I have to call to get it lowered. Should be illegal, especially since I’m paying a criminal amount already.

Just checked. All of the “cheap” ones require you to order 2+, and then have insane shipping costs. The rest are $100-120 CAD.

I don’t think these things will ever be affordable. People who want one badly, will pay the money, and everyone knows it. No need to sell them at MSRP.

I don’t buy any pis because they are $100+ in Canada.

Remember when it was supposed to be a cheap computer? Ya…

Linux isn’t trying to compete with Windows for the desktop market. Making fun of it for failing to do that is dishonest at best.

2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 IS THE YEAR OF LINUX!!!

It caters to the very specific needs and wants of programmers, and it does that incredibly well.

Too bad Linux users don’t understand this. Lemmy is full of Linux nerds acting like Linux is a viable replacement to Windows/MacOS, when it’s not for the majority of users.

The fact that it can now run some quite high-end art and video production packages is a bonus

Ya, despite the fact Davinci free cannot edit h.264 or h.265 video on Linux, or that neither the free or PAID versions can use AAC audio. Very professional.

but no one with an ounce of sense (coughgardinerbryantcough) would seriously argue that Linux will be ready for mass adoption at any point within the next ten years.

You’ve guys been saying this for decades lol.

okay punk. have a shitty day man.

Class. Telling me to have a shitty day because I asked you not to keep asking me about private information. Take the hint. Back off, creep.

Lmao Linux users cope with the “I don’t care, I don’t even want it” excuses. Comes out so naturally when you have to give up nearly everything on Linux.

I don’t want to answer you, stop asking, creep. Get the hint.

I am very happy with my AMD CPU and GPUs, thank you very much.

Lmfao. Enjoy your last gen ray tracing and garbage FSR.

so what is it?

I am not telling you, creep. When someone doesn’t want to answer personal info, stop asking. It’s sad you need to be told this.

Are you really that dense? Different tools don’t equal different workflows. It means some things aren’t possible on kdenlive that people need to use in their professional work.

That’s like saying paint is a replacement for Photoshop. Enjoy trying to professionally edit photos with paint.

But hey, you like Linux, trying to troubleshoot why your graphics card doesn’t work, begging companies to release a Linux version of software, trying to hunt around for hardware that supports your Linux distribution.

Literally a post from the last few hours in one of the Linux communities asking which distro to use because Pop isn’t working with their Nvidia card properly. Comments are full of different recommendations, despite Pop being one of the OSes that is set up for gaming.

Linux is a mess, and the community isn’t helpful.

The distinction I am making is that most software developers don’t consider Linux Desktop a real OS, and that’s why Linsux nerds are begging for developers to release Linux versions.

They lack the features and tools.

I said desktop. You literally quoted it.

Linux server and Linux desktop aren’t the same thing.

Are you implying software can’t be released for Windows/Mac only, and be FOSS? 💀

I bought Affinity for a one time fee. Enjoy trying to get a job using gimp 😂😂😂

or just downright combative responses

My favourite things Linsuxs users say;

“You don’t even need to use the terminal anymore!”

someone asks for help

“here’s a terminal command, idiot. Go back to windows, idiot.”

or

“Linus from LTT is so stupid for running a random terminal command from the internet, borking his install. Anyway, here’s a terminal command, idiot. If you want the GUI instructions, go back to Windoze!1!”

or

“You can run that on Linux. Just download these 50 dependencies, run this custom script, modify WINE, and then it only crashes every 3 minutes!”

Like nah, I will stick to clicking a .exe and having it up and running in 5 seconds with no crashing, thanks.

Kdenlive isn’t a replacement for Davinci or Premiere, sorry.

I rely on either Affinity Designer or Adobe Illustrator to run my business. Inkscape and Krita are not capable of professional work.

I pay for Proton, so I am not going to say fuck it because they, like most companies, don’t look at Linux Desktop as a real OS. Sorry.

I am not bitching about downvotes. I do not care.

Enjoy editing in Gimp and Kdenlive lmao.

“I dont use that, so this guy doesn’t know how to work computers”.

You guys are insufferable. Enjoy your Linux. Love seeing you guys bitch on every software launch for a Linux release lmao.

Adobe Suite?

Affinity Suite?

Proton Drive?

Editing in Davinci? (free version of DaVinci Resolve on Linux cannot playback any H.264 or H.265 video, and the free and paid version cannot playback AAC audio on Linux…)

You know, anything productive?

Any kind of productivity is stopping me.

Saw a bunch of these “peaceful” conservatives ripping pride flags from peoples hands. Especially that one nasty old witch ripping it out of a dudes lap from behind him, when he was sitting by himself on a wall.

Never saw the same from the other side.

You mean Canadian landlords. I pay more for a town house in London Ontario than most people in Toronto 😂. Canada is fucked.

I setup the VPN tunnel. It’s a toggle switch on my phone that allows me to access my network as if I was home. It’s free (using wireguard app), and way more secure, as my phone is the only device allowed to access it.

Downside is that I need to add devices manually if I wanted, but upside is that it’s super secure and not directly open to the web via domain.

Thanks! I didn’t realize how dead simple, and free, it was to use the WireGuard app on Android and built in Unraid VPN settings to create a VPN tunnel.

It took me 2 minutes and it’s a simple toggle to access my photos as if I was at home. Incredible!
