What remains as methods of protest after this? I wonder what would happen to a subreddit if it’s moderators would simply stop moderating all together…

But I guess admins could always make someone a moderator, there’s always someone willing to have a power trip.

I do the same. I have 500GiB storage for my Pi4, which I use for torrenting and Kodi. I delete stuff if I watched it and it reaches 2:1 seed ratio, or after a couple of months. So in a way I don’t really have a collection.

This kid is gonna get rich if they stick to it

Why entertainment is a luxury, knowledge and education is basically what human civilization is built upon and should be free. Of course the reality is that people need money in the current system we live in and we have to reward those somehow who dedicates their time and efforts to education.

So I’ve arrived to a conundrum… Because I think morally it’s more acceptable to pirate educational content (imho), but I’m also more likely to pay the educators, as it is a very important job. Of course this does not apply to when someone just gatekeeps knowledge because of greed, it’s very similar to charity fraud in my book

I don’t doubt the guy had good intentions at first, my theory is that greed got to him as the money started to pour in. What would have been the end goal if nobody ever notices? Can you even hide this kind of money from authorities as a charity organization?

However, I think he still can salvage the situation and his some of his reputation if he owns up to his mistakes and donates all of the money now.

Never understood this argument, it’s the person’s responsibility who changed the code to update the comments if needed. Otherwise they just implicitly admit that they did not read it or understand the context, or just plain did not care.

It makes sense for me in third person games. Imagine a stick stuck in the protagonist head from behind. You are the camera behind the character, imagine you grabbing the stick and rotating the head with that. You have to pull the stick down for the character to look up, and push it upwards to look down. By the same logic, you have to move it left for the character to look right, and vice versa. The stick is the analog stick on the gamepad.

Once you get used to this control scheme, it’s quite hard to re-learn non-inverted controls.

Yes! To add to this, please let me invert the analog stick camera controls. Both axis! My biggest pet peeve is when a game let’s you invert the Y axis, but not the X… Why? You were so close dammit how much effort is adding the other really?

You can use without plugins as well, they are not a must. I’ve been using Obsidian for years just for it’s inter-connected markdown references. Kind of like a wiki, I’m just taking markdown notes and sometimes create a link to another related note. Also, good at handling attachments and embeds. I haven’t used anything else (maybe tags nowadays… But that’s it) Thing is, if you like markdown then you should give it a go.

Cultist Simulator somehow made me feel the same fanaticism as I assume a cultist would feel. It can be very addicting, chasing the endgame, driven by curiosity and desire for power. Not for everyone though.

You’re right, I did not even notice the persistent notification! What a unnecessarily annoying move. This deserved an early bird uninstall for me…

Thank you for the tip, I’ll sign up. I occasionally use the audio call functionality, but shouldn’t be an issue.

I’ve tried, and on the mobile site there’s no way to access Messenger. Only workaround is if you force the desktop version on messenger.com but it is very inconvenient.

I have not found any news article on this on a whim. Because my friends and family, I need to use Facebook Messenger, and Messenger Lite was a OK client - lightweight, no unnecessary features, etc., compared to the regular Messenger app. Now I'm a little torn, having a Meta app on my phone is already bad, but having to downgrade to the bloated Messenger app? Not sure I will make a change. What are your thoughts?

+1 for Mark of the Ninja. The gameplay is so polished, great art direction, and simple but satisfying. It is a staple Klei Entertainment game. Not to mention the good story, at least as I remember. It’s not a new game, released originally in 2012, however there’s a remastered version on Steam.

Did you use this specific controller? It is actually a beast, very high quality and durable. I’ve used a Logitech Rumblepad 2for almost a decade. The only issue I had with it is that it did not support xinput, only direct input, so a lot of games do not support it anymore. But still works like a charm.

However I won’t trust my life on it.

Thank you for your response, makes sense. Hmmm. On one hand, I agree with the developers in that they have to develop features that the foundation requires. They have full time employment contract with them.

They have to prioritize tasks and features using a whole different set of variables than what the users deem important.

I think both groups intentions are understandable. But I think this just highlights the importance and the need of open source contribution. We need more volunteers to implement features desired by the community.

So, do you think we need to step up to the developers to implement captcha or give way to the community and support a fork with better anty-spam measures?

Who is impacted? Everyone, it just instances upgrading to 0.18?

To be honest, your post doesn’t really explain the current situation and impact It’s a call to arms, but I have no idea how important it impactful it is.

Such an improvement in my opinion. 90% of the time I am browsing my playlists. Now, instead of getting 20% of the screen space, they get a generous 70% almost! This small change makes me want to use Spotify desktop again.

I have no idea how they came to this decision, or whether I’m in the majority, but it makes me wonder: did they finally start to use the app usage analytics to improve their UX? Like looking at the most used functions in their app.

I do agree with the author that Stardew Valley can be stressful. A day is too short, and you want to cream in as much as you can. We play coop together with my girlfriend and we still feel overwhelmed sometimes.

But I do admit, this just might be because of our playstyles. We actually enjoy chaotically cramming in everything in one day, and we have roles and usual chores assigned. She usually grinds the mines and takes care of animals, I take care of the crops and community house stuff.

We didn’t even touch NPC interaction yet, might be missing a lot!

All I’m saying is, I never got the laid-back, slow, relaxed feeling from Stardew. Yes, it’s serene and peaceful in theme, but it’s as fast-paced as you want it to be. It really respects your time I think.

However I do want to try something similar where I can play it slowly, and meanwhile I can watch some trash in the TV with one eye, and don’t have to worry about short days or energy bars.

This is a good idea. You don’t even need an external SSD, you can use a simple USB drive as well. I’ve done this for a long time with an old laptop and a lightweight Linux Mint distro (although you can probably have something even more lightweight on there)

Ungoogled Chromium: https://chromium.woolyss.com/ It should be the most barebones Chromium browser, hopefully using less RAM. And! Important: Download the 32bit version, even if you choose another browser. As your friend only has 4GB RAM, the max memory a 32bit software can address, you wouldn’t have any benefit from a 64bit version, and 32bit apps usually use much much less memory (RAM).

Good luck!

Yeah I think these hardware created their own category, handheld PCs. Separate from PC, console and handheld consoles.

Yeah. Cities: Skylines biggest draw was traffic simulation. If they are downgrading the variety of traffic and vehicles then I’ll wait.

Very good article, I agree with most of the points.

I also like to think that AI will never replace programmers, because for that to happen, the customer would have to give complete, correct and full requirements and specifications in plain, simple English - we know that almost never happens. Instead, you have to force the requirements out of them with pliers!
