So, are schools expected to teach kids how to wipe their ass because they might have dumbfuck parents?
Yes. I know so many people who didn’t learn basic hygiene cuz their parents were dumbfucks. I was one of them. I didn’t know that u have to clean under ur foreskin. When my penis started to stink one day, I learnt about this. Another example is brushing ur teeth. I’m quite sure that u rinse ur mouth immediately after brushing, rinsing the toothpaste away. Did uk u were not supposed to do that? Fluorine in toothpaste requires time to act on ur enamel. Hence, while u should spit the toothpaste out, u shouldn’t rinse ur mouth always.
How many cases of dental cavities have occurred due to people not learning about this? Cases which could’ve easily been prevented by good education.
Are you seriously expecting the school to teach every fucking basic things of life because bad parenting is a thing?
Yes. It isn’t the kid’s fault for having shitty/no parents. It is however society’s fault if the kid has to suffer through the effects of shitty/no parents.
Start paying teacher like you pay doctor, lawyer, dentist or even construction workers and then we’ll talk.
So we do agree. Of course teachers are incredibly underpaid. Of course they need to be paid as much as doctors, engineers and so on.
But what about those damn phones? Kids surely aren’t using their phones cuz the classes r boring as shit due to a boring and underfunded education system. Now that we have taken their phones away, they surely won’t find some other distraction like bullying the teacher, fooling around with their peers and so on… They surely are going to be model students who always pay attention to the teacher and everything that is taught. /s
The kids aren’t okay with that. I’m sure that instead of staying quiet and messing with their phones, they’re now actively causing a disturbance in the class.
I know this because I went to both types of schools- where phones were banned and where they weren’t. Guess what- if ur class is shit, kids are going to find some distraction to kill the time. If phones are there, those would be the distraction. If phones aren’t there, then hooliganism, disturbing the class, taking the piss out of the teacher, etc. would be the distractions.
The problem isn’t the phones. The problem is boring classes, which are a result of a broken and underfunded education system.
I had mind numbingly boring classes when I was in school. Why were they boring in the first place? Cuz the curriculum was stupid/the teachers weren’t that good. The solutions to both problems are by increasing the education budget.
I also had teachers who were so amazing that noone was distracted. My point is, kids don’t use phones in classes for absolutely no reason. Kids do that cuz the classes are shite. Fix the classes and the kids won’t use their phones.
Eyyy so I can post Justin Trudeau catboy videos here! Niceee
Edit: Bruh I just made a shitpost and it got downvoted to oblivion :(
For context, it was this vid.
A compiler has mostly fixed rules for translation.
Some compilers are simple, while some are complicated. An AI compiler would of course be very complicated. However, it still would have “fixed rules”. It’s just that these rules would be decided by itself. If u r a software dev, u r also an English-to-xyz-language-compiler. You do what your client tells u to do more or less correctly, right? Junior devs do what senior devs tell them to do kinda correctly, right? An AI compiler would be the same thing.
Programming by using the ai as a “compiler” would likely lead to many bugs that will be hard to impossible to trace without knowing the underlying implementation.
Bugs would be likely if your AI compiler was dumb. The probability of bugs would reduce drastically if ur AI compiler was trained more/on better data.
It’s ok as an assistant to generate boilerplate code, and warn you about some bugs / issues. Maybe a baseline implementation.
That is the state of AI today. What you are describing are the capabilities of current AI models. However, I cannot see how this is a criticism of the idea of AI compilers themselves.
But by the time you’ve exactly described what and how you want it you may as well just write some higher level code.
Again. The smarter your model, the more you can abstract your stuff.
Syntax has never really be an issue.
But it has tho… For example, I do not know rust. I want to add the notifications functionality to Lemmy. Lemmy is in rust. To implement this relatively simply api, I need to learn rust to a degree. Then, I need to look at Lemmy’s file structure to understand the project further to actually do what I want to do. What if this all could be abstracted by me simply saying “post xyz to the expo-notifications server whenever someone messages someone.” An AI English-to-rust interpreter could easily do this.
The closest thing to plain english programming are legal documents and contracts. As you can see they are horrible to understand but that the only way to correctly specify exactly what you want.
This is what would define the smartness of the AI, wouldn’t it? Your project manager doesn’t tell you exactly what they want. You have the brains to interpret what they mean and do stuff accordingly, correct?
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, but this could truly be the future of programming languages. We don’t have to manually compile everything to assembly today, do we? Imagine simply using English for pseudocode, with an AI compiler that writes the most performant code… How much would that speed up development time? Noone would need to know different languages… The learning curve for programming relatively basic shit would be low.
I dunno, but I’ve seen a lot of unecessary hate for AI in the left leaning communities…
Ads are annoying and can be privacy intrusive depending upon the ad network. However, do u have a better funding model in mind to keep these open sourced alternatives up and running?
Donation based models don’t rlly work that well. Restricting stuff behind a paywall is an option, but ethically a little icky one. Ads are the best in these cases, right?
Awww those poor poor billion dollar corporations… So sad… /s
