The Raspberry Pi 5 might be good enough for your needs. The 8GB costs a bit less than 100€ without any accessories at the danish reseller, so it fits in your budget. I don’t know if it’s good enough for all your services.

If you recognize them all, you’re a double nerd

I’m not sure if this is the right place for this post, YouTube hate doesn’t seem particularly piracy related.

“Next year will be the year of the Linux desktop, I swear”

The trick is to know that this is the decade of the Linux desktop

I currently do not have the ability to donate, but I will once I do.

CW: opinion

I believe FOSS developers spending time to maintain something I (or others) use should be paid for that time, especially if it’s their free time.

Possibly off-topic, but I think, even if you donate to them, you aren’t automatically entitiled to a FOSS developer’s time. It’s your privilege to use something they made in their time for not you, and you have no right to demand them to change anything about it, so you should at least have the decency to be nice.

cloud based repository

Where do you think other distro’s repos are?

My current solution to prevent getting a virus is to:

  1. Go to archlinux.org
  2. Download the ISO and follow the install instructions
  3. Check suspicious-looking files on virustotal

Takes a few hours to initially set everything up, but has the added benefit of not using a shit operating system.

Iirc it’s [Ctrl+X][Ctrl+C]neovim[Enter]

I usually get it from the YouTube algorithm, but I’ll also check up on some labels every now and then and see what they got new. I also follow some individual artists.

Good there’s a more official way now, I just added the entire part to the custom filter list previously.

No matter how good Proton gets, native will still be better.

If Proton sucks for a game, try a different Proton version (maybe even Proton GE), if it still sucks, try a KVM with PCI passthrough. If you don’t wanna do that shit, dual boot.

Also, trying to find support on running pirated games on Linux will get you kicked out of most forums.

Also, Nvidia hardware sucks on Linux

Not really under X11 with the proprietary driver. Also Team Red has good hardware to offer too.

It’s almost always just htop and/or hackertyper and/or the fancy matrix effect

Should work, tho I doubt it’s much more performant than a pi, so your ideas might be too heavy for it.

Not sure if this has what you’re looking for, but check out the r/Roms Megathread https://r-roms.github.io/

If it’s available, you can go to the mod’s source and download it from there.

Setting up a PiHole is a method that should work. Costs a bit if you don’t already have something to host it on.

would it make sense to host something on my main machine?
Not something that would have to be on all the time, but more something that can be off overnight. This question feels like it has an obvious yes/no answer that I'm missing. Edit: pihole was a bad example
