Isn’t the master branch the submissive one? Always behind, getting force fed content from the other branches.

Always a great game to get back into. Or get into in the first place.

The latest patch was kind of disappointing and I hope they do tweak some of the issues, but I’m still looking forward to the new expansion reveal tomorrow. The teasers were pretty neat so far.

Yaml is honestly just a terrible terrible format that is neither good for humans nor good for machines.

If you work from home, you’re spending a lot of time in that chair. A good, ergonomic chair can go a long way to mitigate back issues.

The more you learn about JavaScript, the less you understand how the modern web actually functions.

I found a free and foss alternative to OpenAudible that seems to work fine: https://github.com/audiamus/BookLibConnect

There’s a sister project to convert the aax (m4b) files, but I found that to be unnecessary.

This honestly looks really really good. I played a lot of TR2 in my childhood, might pick it up for nostalgia.

I think the “make it look how people remember” is a great approach to remaster graphics. They were iconic and state of the art back when they came out, but PS1 era graphics are among the worst-aged graphics out there.

I’m not familiar with the current state of Linux, but the minimum usability bar for the general public is never ever having to open a terminal.

The problem with point and click on a touch screen is that you can not point ( i.e. mouse hover). Finding interactible elements can be very tricky.

Grim Dawn has one major issue IMO: it overuses passives and semi-passive abilities. When I play an action RPG, I want to actively push different buttons to do different things instead of optimizing my primary attack to do a bit of everything.

Here’s a whole bunch of modpack on Curseforge. There’s some more on FeedTheBeast, Modrinth and ATLauncher (I think). The scene is alive and well, although many of the old mods (like buildcraft and industrial craft) have long been replaced by newer mods.

Your best bet on jumping back in is a quest-based pack on a fairly recent version of the game. The last one I played was FTBSkies, which was pretty cool and included questlines for all major mods to guide you.

Baldurs gate is a DND based CRPG

Although DND games usually handwaive encumbrance with bags of holding.

Why? It’s not like BioWare has delivered a good game since ME3 (or arguably even ME2).

I don’t want to “Press any key to continue” to the main menu
At some point in this millenium, it became ubiquitous in games to ask for a button press before switching to the main menu and it has become a pet peeve off mine. Why is that there? It's your main menu so ugly that you have to shield players from it? Why can I not double click the game Icon, go to the kitchen to get coffee and return to the PC/console to find myself in the main menu ready to continue my game? Seriously, cui bono? Sometimes, they even show a different screen before that press, which some artist got paid for creating, so the developer is also losing (a tiny amount of) money here. I honestly just don't get the point of these screens. Bonus negative points for games that only check DLC after that button press instead of any other point of the losing process. Calling a server could easily be threaded while the game assets are loaded since it takes very little hardware load to do so. But no, I get to wait an additional 10 seconds because the game devs want me to for no apparent reason. On a related note: just allow players to auto skip intros, please. Just put an checkbox in the settings, so that everyone can see it once.

Simon Tatham’s Puzzles is an amazing collection of little puzzle games. There a ports for both Android and iOS available as well.

To be honest, I don’t remember 90% of that story. The opening is great (but that’s more the setting than story) and the final twist is amazing, but everything else is a blur.

The game would be better with 75% less of the random map markers. I find them hard to ignore even though they’re often not worth getting.

Beginning July 6, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now cost $16.99 (a $2 increase), and regular Xbox Game Pass will now cost $10.99 monthly (a $1 increase). However, the price of PC Game Pass will remain at $9.99 a month.

That’s a fairly small increase for what it includes. Also, no increase on PC, which seems odd.
