Just an average day I guess? They might be used to it at this point but I’d be curious to see if cancer rates are rising in Beijing and if there is any data pointing towards smog as a direct cause

see “begpacking.” it drives me mad when i see western travelers treating asia as a playground where they can do whatever the hell they want and thinking they can get away with it.

there was definitely a time where i got some results from google in a very ad-like manner, super fucking annoying: “you may like this…” and spamming different search terms, locations etc.

i haven’t seen it since, i figured they were A/B testing the design

definitely not, i used this a ton too. it’s obvious reddit is just getting greedy

oh shit i didn’t realize it already dropped!! kinda keep an eye on it

According to its current privacy policy, with an account, Hue gets access to the configuration of your system to provide the right software updates to the devices. It can only use your data for marketing or share it with third parties if you provide additional consent. However, in a change to the current policy, Yianni says Hue will not collect usage information from users without additional optional consent. “So, we do not require users share anything about how they use our products,” he says. “Previously creating an account was consent for usage data processing that we are in the process of decoupling and will be decoupled before accounts become essential — that makes sure it’s possible to create an account without sharing usage data,” says Yianni. However, if you choose to use the cloud services for things like out-of-home connectivity, you will need an account, and Hue will process your data, he says. If this change to the privacy policy does happen, Home Assistant’s Schoutsen agrees that it would make the requirement for an account more palatable. “But it all depends on the exact changes,” he says.

well i may have to consider picking this up.

and the fact that they tried to retroactively charge folks for using unity…like wtf cmon

honestly, i’m getting tired of board members of corporations just making shitty decisions to try and squeeze more money out of their customers rather than trying to learn what about their product appeals to their customer base in the first place. notice how it’s never enough to look at revenue over the years and say, “this is enough, let’s keep this steady.”

so is using something like an Apple TV or Roku box actually more secure than just using the apps directly on the TV?

oh…is that why all these nice smart TVs are so affordable these days?! damn!!

are there any good scooby doo games out there? i remember playing one on the PS2 as a kid, good balance of “creepy” stuff like zombies and just goofball humor

Depending on the tier you also get a library of free games which is honestly kinda nice, but that’s pretty much it.

Excited to play it, too bad i gotta wait 5 more days since i didn’t wanna shell out 30 more just to play it earlier lol

From what I’ve seen as long as you’re not using a CDMA network like Verizon it reasonably works. There might be some minor issues when it comes to network performance on 5G/LTE but lots of folks claim that it’s been working just fine for them.

No downside really, guess I’m just more curious what the stock OS is like for the Fairphone

Dammit, what’s it gonna take for the Fairphone to be brought to the US? The only options are buying it from the Murena shop with their /e/ OS installed or to get the European model from somewhere like eBay or Newegg.

and considering that it’s not a huge game studio, minor bugs like this were kind of expected

I’m still working through BG3 and Starfield comes out really soon…I’m not gonna have time!!!

I’m excited!! Killing Floor 2 was a blast so if it’s anything like that it’ll be a good time

Elden ring I think is still much more accessible for a newcomer. If you try Dark Souls 1, you’ll realize that the difficulty of the game also learns pretty hard into more tedious aspects.

Getting cursed in Dark Souls 1 means you’re HP is capped to half until you find the cure, as an example.

Umm was it supposed to help you “resist” getting poisoned or cursed? 🤨

The game that comes to mind is Dark Souls. They teach you the bare bones of the controls and that’s it.

Nothing about where to go, what stats to level up, ways to defeat specific enemies, what spells/elemental attacks to use, etc.

I had to Google a lot of things in the beginning.

God, i’d love more games in the style of twin peaks. disco elysium scratches the itch, but wish there were more.

Typical of Google to shut down yet another service

wow fuck that. how does one go about disabling it?

$50 for a port (not even a remaster) onto a last gen console? and not even a PC release?! man i’m disappointed to say the least.

Wow, this was way worse than I thought. Uber has been fairly reputable for being a douchey company, eh? Anyone know if Lyft is actually better?

man i remember this game, thought it was so badass to basically play a sonic game with guns

Elon Musk goes low against Zuckerberg as Twitter-Threads spat intensifies
"Twitter owner calls Facebook founder a ‘cuck’ as rancour grows over launch of Threads, a competitor to Musk’s network" Man I thought this was The Onion at first

Are the Dead Cells DLCs worth looking into at all?
So far I'm liking the base game a lot, but I wasn't sure if the DLCs add a whole lot more to the game that make it more enjoyable than it is already or if it's merely extra content for hardcore fans. Any thoughts?

I’m already using Linux as mine. I pretty much only use windows for gaming at this point

The Release Date and Key Features of Windows 12 Unveiled
I...didn't think windows 12 was actually a thing but here we are?

I’ve unfortunately still run into some issues running games on Pop_OS, most recently Street Fighter 6 which is weird since it runs perfectly on the steam deck. I still keep a windows installation mainly for games like that

sweet! i’ll definitely peep this

Cool stuff! I’m noticing that some of the RSS previews on morss.it turned out to be in Spanish or French? Would it still be in English if I added it to my RSS reader?

I found this game a little hard to get into personally since it seems to tell you very little of what to do in some areas. I do need to pick it up and try again soon though

Someone correct me if I’m wrong since I’m not familiar with all this, but would I be able to “upload and share” a game that I bought from GoG since GoG games are DRM free?

I’m new to self hosting as well, so far I’ve set up Nextcloud and FreshRSS. Wanted to look at PiHole myself next!

Still a wait and see for me but this is sounding promising at the very least

Any good detective games you all would recommend?
Looking for some games where it feels like you're actually trying to solve something with the clues and secrets you uncover. For example, Disco Elysium actually made me feel like a detective despite how wacky and surreal it could be. I haven't played LA Noire yet but that's on my list. Anything else I should check out? TIA!
