Crappy ones that they knowingly sale with faulty hardware. Of course someone tried that and they forced him into arbitration. I don’t see why anyone supports that shit company anymore.

Too bad Telegram isn’t as ready to fight Nazi propaganda on their service, but they would have to start with the white supremacist symbolism their own blog was slipping into release posts.

As a disabled person I find I am not intentionally tripped anywhere near enough. I beseech Congress to act now before I become complacent in my verticality.

What else will corporations pay Congress to decide that is in corporations’ best interest for us to not see?

Thank you, but it’s okay. I only see the positive total on my app. Some people just love the taste of corporate boot leather.

It’s funny you mention that. I barely make it 30 minutes at my art receptions of I manage to submit work in a slow. I’ve been thinking about it and remembering how much of a fight I put up before getting a cane and how much I wished I hadn’t waited so long. Probably time to talk to my doc. Thank you friend and I hope you get that chair hacked and at your command.

I understand. I use a cane due to severe inflammatory arthritis and a long list of other crap including a deteriorating spine that’s likely to land me in a chair myself in a few years. Trying to build my own ramp into my house a little at a time on good days because it’s several thousand dollars to have one built and eventually I won’t be able to do it at all. Solidarity in hating it here. I’m in Texas in the US which, well it’s run by regressive masochistic asshats.

I’m sorry I don’t have any answer, but I just wanted to say I’m sorry you have to go through this to make your life easier. Also I fucking hate unrestrained capitalism.

Don’t forget that they will hide behind arbitration to avoid paying up for knowing seeking shoddy consoles/controllers.

Even with the best care I wouldn’t expect it to last 20 years. The switch is nowhere near a well built machine as the DS was. The controllers will be lucky to last a year. They used arbitration to avoid a lawsuit over how crappy the switch is knowingly built. We’ve been through three since their inception. That being said they’re still a lot of fun. They are trying to integrate the sub more, but it’s still avoidable on some games. If you buy one get a hard case or at least a somewhat solid case to help support the console with the controllers connected if you decide to play it that way. The way that they’re connected with what destroyed them faster for us because you put too much pressure on the controllers and their connection when holding it. Using a case like this for reinforce the controllers and make them last much longer in my experience.

Same. Just finished organizing 8000 flacs the hard way which may not be a lot, but it sure felt like it… lol

Says the guys that reduced piracy to a fraction of its former self before getting too greedy. Piracy wasn’t affecting them, but it’s a side effect of what they have become.

This is my stance too and what I try to do. I also tend to buy used where I can to save money, but I really like having the physical copy in back up.

I’m not sure if it’s close to the same thing, but I use Max Richter’s Sleep album. I did take out a couple of songs for my playlist I thought were too perky, but he worked with sleep scientist or what have you to make an album that induced and maintained sleep. His concert for it was literally a bunch of people sleeping. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0VMUYmhGI3Oqfb0V7X5R2EXoFkrJXOIj

Exactly, there’s no way the studios are going to let them sell actual ownership.

Not me. I set up my server last November and tried Plex. It reminded me too much of too many services starting to lose their way. Given recent events it looks like I was right. We use Kodi because my partner prefers it, but I really like Jellyfin myself. It was a learning process but really only took two or three hours with research time to set up. Costs me nothing and I don’t have any ads, upselling, or any other BS that will eventually turn into more extreme attrition.

There’s a lot of good suggestions here, but I just wanted to add that I absolutely wouldn’t rely on a random eBay seller’s warranty in any way. I made that mistake early on in my journey. I came back to find my seller had deleted their account (probably to start another and skip out on warranties).

If anything they are worse because they make you become aware enough of the ad to make the connection to physically push a button skip it. When HBO Minimum Quality added them I dropped it. When Paramount (We can’t build a functional app) + and Disney Pus (Not a typo) added them I finally built a media server and rejoined the high seas after 20 years. I’ll never go back.

*Looks at the 4 busted ass appliances, that were built to fall, I bought brand new 3 years ago that are barely clinging onto life. * Consumer protection huh? What a concept.

Piped does, NewPipe is a different project and as far as I know it’s Android app only. There’s also Freetube (browser and I think apps), invidious (which I think is federated) , and I’m pretty sure the revanced app is still going strong. I’m sure other people are more in the know than I am but hopefully that can help. I don’t know how active it is but Piped has a Lemmy that might be able to help you as well. https://feddit.rocks/c/piped. Have a great day!

If you’re on Android I use NewPipe. Pretty reliable. It’s in FDroid and I’m pretty sure Github.

You did not that’s correct, that was meant more towards all of the people in the thread in general worshiping steam as a corporate savior. That was poor writing on my part. The things you mentioned are almost word for word the conjecture you find on Reddit and has not proof itself. I would love to see a copy of the MFN myself. Valve definitely admits they ask developers to offer similar prices according to their responses to other users, but won’t deny it or produce a copy themselves of any MFN. All I’m saying is they’re in a well deserved anti-trust suit that covers several topics beyond the MFN as detailed in the links I did provide. Their motions to dismissed have been slapped down because the judges feels there’s enough evidence to proceed on at least some of the claims. I guess we’ll see whether the case can prove itself or not and neither of us will really know until all of the evidence is presented. I’m not blindly believing they must be guilty, but it’s hard to say Steam isn’t a monopoly. There are plenty of other reasons to dislike Steam, but arguing that with the other people here is a bit like arguing with gun owners. People are willing to dismiss their principles about things that affect the macrocosm quickly when it could deprive them of something they personally enjoy.

I can’t speak to whether or not that is true, because it’s not necessarily exclusive. Both can be correct. It’s not what’s in the antitrust lawsuit. it’s not what I’m talking about either. The issue outlined in the antitrust suit is: *“Valve has for years maintained its dominance and thwarted effective competition by engaging in various anticompetitive acts. For example, Valve forces game publishers to agree to a Platform Most-Favored-Nations Clause (the “Valve PMFN”) as a requirement to access Steam. Valve explicitly requires that publishers agree that games sold elsewhere must be sold “in a similar way to how you sell your game on Steam” and publishers cannot “give Steam customers a worse deal” for games sold elsewhere,2 i.e., Valve prohibits publishers from giving consumers a better deal on other stores that compete with Steam. Valve interprets and enforces this language to encompass price parity, forcing game publishers to charge the inflated Steam Store price across the marketplace, on all game sales, even sales of games that are not enabled for Steam. Valve thus uses its PMFN to control the prices of games sold in the Steam Store and in other stores. Rather than lowering prices to Steam customers, Valve’s PMFN has the effect of reducing price competition and raising game prices.” That’s one of several complaints against Valve." * I’m really surprised so many people here of all places believe any corporation gives a shit about anything but their money. Corporations are never your friend. If they helped make piracy necessary it wasn’t done for our benefit, it was done because it is profitable for them. Here’s the complaint in case No. 2:21-cv-00563-JCC in it’s entirety: https://www.steamclaims.com/_files/ugd/5210fb_80b19705e27549158fea02a16055b0e4.pdf

They also forced developers to never price lower on any other platform than steam as a condition fire selling on steam. Which is not only unethical, it’s illegal. Also the secret hardware changes to steam deck which people usually try to justify, but was shady no matter what.

I know they’re an army in this metaphor but I still want to hug them.

Good deal. Yeah I have few old movies or of circulation I downloaded in the 00’s in 240p that seemed fine back then but on my monitor or TV now make it look like I’m watching it on a Lite Brite.

If you’re doing it for preservation and data hoarding then it’s probably worth it to redo it, but unless you’re very picky odds are there isn’t much difference depending on what you saved them as in Handbrake. If you plan on keeping the DVDs then I would watch a bit of one as it’s then play a bit of the file and if you don’t have a problem with the difference then I wouldn’t worry about it too much. DVD is only 480 SD typically anyway. I’m not an expert though, just a fellow ripper of DVDs.

Don’t forget the worst most condescending people working for Brave. I actually had one of their people antagonize me on social media years ago for not liking their invasive homepage at the time.
