I’m still new to this myself, but yes that’s the gist of it. This isn’t k8s or even k3s. It’s an easy way to deploy a container via code on a single node system using the already present systemd for management. It let’s you pretend that Linux handles containers natively like it does daemons.
This article from redhat has more information about the why and what.
Yup. I read it as “compose and manage containers with systemd.”
Sure, there is a k8s layer abstracted into podman to do this, but you don’t manage or interact with it. Everything is a systemd unit file, a simple text document with a well understood structure. Containers are started and logged like services.
Easy, direct, tidy.
Corporations hide crimes all the time, even when they are the victims. If the crime will lose them money in any way, either directly or from a reputation hit, it’s very likely a company will not report it.
It only because the employees involved had their NDAs expire and confirmed they saw some very fucked up things that we know what he did.
Twitch fired him publicly when he was one of their biggest streamers. It’s fully possible the explicitly sexual messages are a crime, but the parties involved, including the minor victim, did not want it reported.
You can argue amazon should have reported it anyway if it rose to that level, but with none of the involved parties forcing the issue, it makes sense from a buisness stance not to.
Yes and no. The auditing is likely the harder part. You can use something like tailscale or nebula vpn to get the always on vpn/ACLs. With a dozen or two devices, it should be doable at a home scale.
If you want clientless zerotrust then you’re talking heavier duty things like Palo alto gear and the like.
ZeroTrust is a specific type of network security where every network device has its access to other devices validated and controlled, not a statement on the trustworthiness of vendors.
Instead of every device on a LAN seeing every other device, or even every device on a VLAN seeing other devices on a VLAN, each device can only connect with the other devices it needs to work, and those connections need to be encrypted. These connectioms are all monitored, logged and alerted on to make sure the system is working as intended.
You do need to trust or validate the tooling that does the above, regardless of what you’re using.
I think that’s common in gaming development. You work on a project until it’s done, then pivot to another or get let go.
The game bombing likely doesn’t help but I expect most devs involved expected this. Apparently development ran 3-4 years, which is a good time to leave a job in tech generally, if not earlier if you want to maximize income.
Yup, there’s the justification right on time. They had to abandon basic civility and professionalism to “hit their targets.”
Thats why they can be abusive, ignore the company process for tickets, threaten their coworkers, whatever they want. They need to “stay on parnet track” and “hit their targets.” No one else has any stressors or requirements at their workplace, just the lawyers.
Nevermind that the “support staff” make sure lots of people, processes and services work, and may individually be more important to “hitting targets” for the company as a whole than any individual lawyer.
How about the lawyers “do their job” by interacting with their coworkers professionally? By submitting tickets correctly and in a timely manner?
Abusing your coworkers is never justified.
He doesnt talk about pictures at all. That was someone elses supposition.
It’s not clear from the snippet of text what the issue is, but it sure looks like he opened up the folder ACLs and found that his account wasn’t “Owner” for some folder/files, and now hes mad that he is being made to elevate his own account for that folder, because “He is the OWNER!” of the files in a property rights context.
Windows defaults to giving a user access to common folders like a desktop, pictures, etc. Most never need anymore access to internal folders.
The fact that Andrew has the permissions settings open enough to discover “owner” but doesnt understand what any of it is means and instead launched a “don’t tread on me” screed about his “dominion of all things mine” implies that he fucked up, not Microsoft.
33% of payment on project start, 66% of payment on demonstration of final product, 100% payment on hand over.
Worst case you get 66% of your payment. Make sure 66% is enough to make the project profitable.
Clear contracts are also important. Fuck you, pay me.
It can be. I often find it “bursty.” I’ve had months at a time when I had stand-ups and then “do whatever you want” for the rest of the day. I generally did do useful work, but there were plently of days when I was just chilling out.
Ive also had months where I ran from fire to fire while on fire, spreading even more fire. Also, there was fire.
It juat depends. If some org treats you as disposable, pays like shit and lights your hair on fire as you walk in, y’all should walk back out. The next org will probally treat you better, because there are good orgs out there. Even the good places get busy for a bit though. Just make sure that busy comes with money and that it ends at some point.
The armored trucks were also clearly labeled with the charities logos.
This means the trucks were bombed intentionally, they were bombed when clearly identified as aid workers, or they were bombed indiscriminately.
None of the above is good for the IDF.
Most likely they will claim the “fog of war” was the issue and there will be non specific “changes” that they will make after a long delay, all while blaming aid organizations for not providing volunteers to stop the genocidal starvation they are causing.
Simple to use NAS software. Has a unique raid model that allows adding as few or as many discs as you like of whatever size. You can start with 3 and add 1, 2 or more to the array, no issues. The parity model also lets you add as many parity discs as you like, as long as they are the same size as the largest disk.
Had early docker support as well, so it’s easy to spin up and integrate docker apps on the same server.
Lastly, they used to sell an excellent 8 bay standalone case. Think its been some years since they did.
There are knock offs in the $100 range on amazon. Bring your own raspi4 though.
Hmmm, lets see. The article points out homophobic, transphobic, islamphobic and racist remarks shes made. It states shes been officially sanctioned twice for bigoted remarks, losing 3 months of pay overall. They show her advocating for the exact same policies as the American far right, a blatantly racist group.
But nah, no way shes racist.
I dont personally use this feature, but I know it’s supported.
I would try a different ripped format. They should be .iso files, which is a direct copy of the disc. Kodi will load them like a virtual bluray drive.
This thread may also help you if you run into menu issues.
Kodi can play discs if you rip them directly, menus and all.
If you already have plex setup, add the “plexkodiconnector” addon. It replaces kodis inbuilt, standalone media db with Plex, which gives some nice features like media sync between devices and intro skipping.
Jellyfin can do this with its kodi plugin as well.
I think this is why they are taking it slow.
After the ACA had such a bad start, the obama admin actually opened up "innovation" departments to invite technical experts to modernize goverment infastructure. Those teams have likely done a lot over the decade or so to prevent haphazard rollouts.
EDIT: looks like they work under the title of the “US digital corps” banner and are looking for people.
They have an "all in one" docker installer for the above because you are far from alone here.
Dungeons of the endless is beutiful. A unique roguelike thats more strategic than action based, but gives your choices real weight. You will have to lose people and you will make mistakes to complete the missions, but every one of them leaves you with a sense of impact.
I get the same vibes from it as FTL, the sense of weighty choices. A great buy at $2.50
There is a new “action focused” sequel to dungeon of the endless whose name i forget because its an entirely forgetable game. It fully eliminates meaningful gameplay in trade for mediocre combat. It can be skipped entirely.
Vim doesn’t hate you. It loves who you could be.
