There is a web version i beleive but they have support for basicly all platforms nativly.

Have u looked at jellyfin its more for video media but may be able to deliver most of the functionality u want.

I reccommend debian headless and docker compose. Set up ssh but i would only open ssh to the internet if your using certificate authenticarion. Chatgpt will be able to help you with most of this except installing docker just copy paste install commands from the docker docs

Most of my things are open to the web but thats kinda nessasary for them to be functional file shairing links, link shortening, mc server etc etc

Ive found success configuring my client to check a huge list of trackers for more peers seems to woek 9/10 times

Those are some of the randomest and funnyest examples lol. And they make sence bravo

I love all the people here on the piracy community who are paying users of spotify. Almost like piracy isnt an issue if the alternative is more convenient. Funny that huh.

I been using rethink dns but ik their are other for android at least. Works by making a local vpn magic.

There is nothing more perminant than a temporary solution.

I have been looking at that as an option just feel a little hesitant to buy used drives. But if the wise gentlmen of lemmy reccommend it how bad can it be.

I might use some paid remote storage for an off site backup but i need something local as 0.6Mbps/s is about the best upload i can get without shilling out for starlink.

Advice for buulding a cheep NAS
Hey guys ive been self hosting things for a while now mostly just off a bunch if old computers in a k8s cluster. The majour issue i have currently is all my data is on a single hdd in an old dektop. Its painfully slow and very risky as i have no backup or anything (i dont feel to great about that). I really dont have much $ to spend hence my setup is built from a stack of practically ewaste hobbled together. I finally have the $ to buy some drives how should i go about building myself a nas on the cheap?
fedilink

Ur right in that case i suggest just set up a vpn to ur home lan and have it stream to lan

Huh i vagly remember needing putty but i havnt used windows in almost 5years now.

Bold of u to assumw they are using linux as there main pc os. If they are using windows i beleive it doesnt come with an ssh client.

Try set up ssh then u can ether use a terminal or vscode with the ssh emote something extension

If only there existed a button to make that person completly disapear from you life entirly. Maybe we can call this button a block button. Hmm in reality i realy like that because it means that other people get to decide if they see an opinion i dont like. Best if we give me ultimate control to make anyone online i disagree with disapear that way ill never have to be offended ever again.

Never seen this before but its a masterpiece. I think it missed the engineer who solves an engineering problem an engineering way making all sorts of assumptions and ignoreing all sorts of things that make the mathematicions, physisists, and computer scientists scream in terror. Also prefers to copy paste a section of code cos it represnts a different physical proccess despite being itentical and might need to be changed in future.

I might have to try syncthing then im sure i can use git for versioning my notes from just one node and retain that feature. I use logseq so on desktop git syncing is automatic.

How does syncthing compair to git. Im using git currently but sycing to mobile has a tendancy to break
