I know, I would love to see more games using that style! Then again, I completely understand that it might be easier for some devs to use skeletal animation on voxel models instead of making a static voxel model for every frame of animation.

I loved Picross 3D 2 (or Round 2 or whatever it was called) on the 3DS! As you surmised, it’s not what I’m looking for, but I’ll try to snag it the first chance I get. Thanks!

It definitely qualifies! Alas, I’ve already played it. It still astounds me that the game wasn’t ported to other platforms, it was good!

Much appreciated nonetheless. And yes, that’s precisely what I’m looking for.

Are there any voxel-rendered (if that’s the term) game like Voxatron?
Lately I've been thinking about Voxatron, an incomplete yet fun little top-down-ish shooter game from 2011. I love the way it looks and plays, so I've been wondering if there are any other games with the same aesthetic? It's a bit hard to explain, but what I liked specifically about Voxatron was how the characters and the environment were animated. Everything seemed to snap to an invisible three-dimensional grid, or in other words, voxels didn't rotate. Here's [an example](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TvOZAdAngg). What I'm not looking for is a game that is made of voxels, but is animated like polygons, if that makes sense. Like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nxryAvQCmo). I'm not really sure what term to use, because searching for "voxel games" was not very fruitful for me. Search results encompassed everything from Minecraft to Severed Steel. I imagine animating a game in such a way would be super time consuming, but I still have to ask: are there any games that fit this criteria?

Not surprising. Either this was their long game or MS is in crisis mode, because lately they haven’t been doing so hot.

How did they get strawberry? It looks more like a plastic cup to me.

True, his message doesn’t exactly radiate happiness, but I can assure you he felt SO much better after writing this. Tech support also doubles as everyone’s personal therapist, you see.

Andrew is ignorant. He could learn the basics of computer literacy, which would answer all his questions, but I’ll take a shot in the dark and say that Andrew doesn’t want to do that and is perfectly happy being ignorant. And also angry.

Ah. I… honestly hadn’t noticed. Apologies, OP. Removing previous comment.

Microsoft’s payment to Bobby Kotick would cover the salaries of Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin employees for over 17 years.
FYI, the article is in Spanish: https://www.hobbyconsolas.com/noticias/desarrollador-summerfall-studios-carga-bobby-kotick-1385082

Accurate. Bewilderment and confusion is how most users seem to react to Microsoft products. Especially true after Microsoft pushes out a big update.

That’s a good one. True enough, Splatoon doesn’t go boom, it goes splat.

Okay, then riddle me this: which shooter DOESN’T go boom?

Raging against new slang is just gonna make us more out of touch, and intensify the feeling of being old, so I just accept it and try to keep up.

NEVER! I choose to embrace my inner geriatric and complain about kids these days and their hippy-hop music.

Oh, I’m liking this take. Get ready for “Z Shooters” and “Alpha Shooters”.

Get off my lawn and leave me to my prune juice.

It does roll off the tongue nicely, I have to admit.

It wasn’t? This is what Wikipedia says:

“OK boomer” or “okay boomer” is a catchphrase and internet meme that has been used by members of the Millennial generation and Generation Z (born between the early 1980s and the early 2010s) to dismiss or mock attitudes typically associated with baby boomers – people born in the two decades following World War II.

Who was it targeted at then?

I would love to see that take place, so sign me up for the Church of the Boomest Shooter. My only real concern is where do we go from boomest?

No, you’re not. But I like you anyway.

Dammit! Upvoted with great begrudgement.

Oh, they’re definitely better, no question. But by that definition, wouldn’t that make them Boom Shooters?

I know, but just let me have my old man yells at cloud moment.

It feels like everybody, here are just a few examples. And if that doesn’t cut it for you, Steam has a whole-ass tag for boomer shooters.

I hate the term “Boomer Shooter”
Not to say I hate the genre, I actually love me some Dusk or Turbo Overkill, but why, oh why are they called **Boomer** Shooters? These games clearly took inspiration from 90s FPS games, which 👌, but they were played mostly by Gen Xers and Millenials, not Boomers. When games like Duke Nukem 3D or Quake were out, Boomers were what? 30 to 50 years old? I'm sure some of them played FPS games, but there is no way they were the majority. Whenever I see the term Boomer Shooter, my mind goes to games like [Shootout! for Magnavox Odyssey](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uZTvp7YUiQ). Can't we call them something else, like Retro FPSes or something? Anyway, rant over. Thank you for your time.

Are action RPGs okay? If so, Ys: Oath in Felghana. It’s a remake of Ys III, which is also available on other platforms. However! The PSP version has features that other platforms do not, the main two being voice acting (other ports just have beeps when text is displayed) and a whole new mechanic, which is reminiscent of Final Fantasy’s Limit Breaks.

One potential caveat, though: this is probably the hardest entry in the series. Fights are hard, but never cheap. If you’re okay with that, you should have a good time.

There are a number of thing stopping me from yogacoding, most have already been mentioned. Also, I’m pretty sure the lady in the picture is doing jack shit on her laptop, unless she has a screen mounted on her crotch.

You should! The beginning may be a bit slow, but before long you’ll be building sweet bases or exploring the underground or doing whatever you like, really. It also has a ridiculous amount of content with even more to come next year, apparently. Also, no hunger/thirst mechanics! Like yourself, I don’t like 'em. Terraria has HP and MP, that’s it.

As a Switch owner, fuck this. This is reason enough for me to stop buying games on the Switch and go full piracy/emulation mode. I don’t have any Denuvo games on my PC and I am not having any on my Switch.

Oh, my poor, poor wallet. I loved C:S and this just looks better in every way. Well, except Linux support, but hopefully Steam Play will be able to mitigate that.

Wow. This pretty much constitutes verbal abuse. I’m sorry you had to hear all that. And hey, I’m happy for you!

Stellaris, all day every day. I’m not exaggerating either. Last weekend you could play it for free, so I thought why not give it a shot, you know? I like sci-fi themed games and I haven’t played a 4X game in a while. So I give it a shot and… it’s suddenly 1AM. So I buy the game. And most of the earlier expansions.

And now I play it every day. And when I’m not playing the game, I think about it. What will I research? How can I improve my economy? Will I attack my dickhead neighbours for laying claim to MY systems? Nah, just kidding. I’m actually thinking on HOW I’m going to attack them. A game hasn’t hooked me this bad in a long while.

How did the author know the poster was in his 40s? Or was it just a guess?
