I’ve been playing retro games recently. Metal Slug X, Hydro Thunder, and trying to get into MGS1. Playing on either PSX or Dreamcast

Try using GoG through the Heroic Games Launcher and Proton-GE. It works really really good.

I know of Gradius Galaxies and Iridian II

Been playing Shadow of Mordor again to tie in with Celebrimbor from Rings of Power. However, I found that RoP is terrible but the game is still great.

Been replaying Detroit: Become Human. The first time i tired playing years ago on Windows it would crash all the time. Now that I’m on Linux it runs great. I just beat the game amd have to say that it is an absolute masterpiece. So many options to choose from but at least from what I choose the story held together flawlessly.

Thanks. The Companion app never seemed to work on my sandboxed Google Play profile on GrapheneOS however. I’ve since found Golden Cheetah which is a native Linux program and totally free. Zwift raising their price was the final straw for me to move on and I’m grateful for it.

GC works perfectly on Linux Mint with my Garmin USB ANT+ dongle, Garmin heart rate strap, and retains all the functionality with my Zwift Hub trainer if anyone is curious.

Oh I didn’t even realize it was that old. All the subsequent posts have links to the past discussions. All the posts seem to have interesting games so I was looking through them all for ideas. Thanks for the discussion!

Cool, I’ll check out this game now. On GoG and a native Linux version

Thank you. I clearly need to prioritize learning more about ports. I have had little time to try fixing this issue (hence why this comment is so late) but figured out it was VPN related. My phone’s VPN was blocking connection. After enabling local network bypass another SMB entry appeared with the accurate IP, if required me to only enter my username and then it connected fine.

I have Earthbound on my new Retro DMG but haven’t played it yet. Thanks for referencing the ROM hack, I’ll play that one instead as it seems like a vanilla + experience

I did and got the same results unfortunately. Good to know though, thank you

I'm new to self hosting and just got CasaOS setup following up to part two of Tech DB's guide. The SMB works on my Linux computer, I can create documents, etc. However I'm having trouble accessing it on my Android phone. I'm using Material Files, Search for SMB shares, and find "CASAOS" but it's under a different IP address as the server. Then when I click on it, it prefills some of the lines such as "Hostname: CASAOS" and "Port: 445". I have added my login info as either my CasaOS login and SSH login but both don't work and I've changed the port to 80 as that's CasaOS default but every combination I try fails with "java8... UnknownHostConnection... _and more_" Any ideas?

I enjoy PC as I can emulate classic console, DOS, etc. games too. My OS of choice is Linux

Tomb Raider: Anniversary. The classic games are so much better than new ones.

I’d say there is a larger number of quality games in the retro section

I enjoyed the show. Even my wife who doesn’t like these types of shows enjoyed it mostly besides the gore. She liked the different perspectives from the main characters

Oh that’s awesome! I’ll definitely give that a try. Thanks!

With that attitude unfortunately change will never happen. Sure, it sounds like a lost cause but again, nothing ever changes in any facet of life with that mentality.

Is there anything in particular that stands out to you about MyWoosh? I’ll probably try the Android app option for now

What’s Waydroid? I suppose I could try running it on a dedicated profile. I’ve tried updating my Zwift HUB firmware via the app (as it’s the only way) and it doesn’t work anymore, even if I install sandboxed Google Play.

Zwift Linux Alternative
This might be a stretch but it's still a game. Does anyone know of a bike trainer program (hopefully at least half decent) that runs natively on Linux? I've tried getting Zwift to work through Lutris but have been unsuccessful.

Let’s not focus on the consumer, but rather the poor business practices of large companies as we need to unite for those to change.
