Hello this is my first post on Lemmy, I have been disgruntled with Xiaomi’s stock gallery app and wish to switch to an alternative that will not steal my data.
I’m still using an older version of the app due to an update which added a button to enable the fingerprint scanner, when opening a “hidden” gallery. Older version didn’t require a button press and immediately started the fingerprint scanner 😔… no idea if this has been reverted or not
Ah, that’s pretty shitty if true, do you have any examples?
I’ve been using more of their apps recently, so I’d like to avoid being in that situation in the future :/
I’m … quite sure there were many posts about the issue on reddit, with one app in particular becoming paid and people actually losing access to some data, but either these posts have been deleted, or I’m tripping balls because I can’t locate them now.
I’m going to err on the side of not potentially slandering a dev further and delete my comment. I hope no damage was done.
