I was watching the UK House of Commons streams during some of the Brexit debates when May was still PM. I should note I’m an American. Those were very exciting. It was a little over the top with the heckling, but at least it was interesting to watch. It actually felt like representatives debating and doing something. I know that doesn’t happen all the time though; I’ve seen PMs giving speeches to a near empty chamber, just as is often seen on CSPAN with the House or Senate.

Does it every get lively in the House or the Senate? The horror of Jan. 6 aside, the most memorable think I can think of was that vote on Obamacare where McCain sank the vote to repeal. But even then, it was just senators mostly standing around and talking.

Yeah, I think you’ve nailed the drama side. The other dramatic time is Sinema gave a thumbs down as Mccain did but against the 15-an-hour increase in 2021. https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/sinema-gives-a-thumbs-down-to-federal-minimum-wage-increase-to-15-per-hour/2021/03/05/2428d425-2370-4ed1-91f5-21b4a9495301_video.html That’s about as dramatic as the senate currently gets.

not especially (unless there’s procedural fuckery) although i guess addresses/States of the Union have gotten livelier. decorum has generally prevailed in a way that precludes House of Commons-style heckling, unfortunately.
