President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho needs to fire an automatic weapon into the ceiling of congress to restore order to the chamber.

“A fistfight could break out at any moment,” Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett told The Daily Beast.

He then creepily added that, as a fan of professional wrestling, “it’s entertaining to think that a fistfight could break out at any movement. I kind of dig that.

Republicans are creepy.

It’s all fun and games til someone gets beaten with a cane.

I mean… in this case I think that’s where the fun begins. No matter who does what to who between the two of them I will have no sympathy. I only hope it happens where we can get cspan footage.

I’m aware, but it doesn’t change the level of enjoyment I’d get from one of those two taking a cane to the other. :-)

While I agree with the sentiment, I feel that this kind of direct ad hominem is not really relevant. Especially since there is enough substantially bad stuff to say about Greene that does not equate her appearance to that of a cave person from 40 000 years ago.

I don’t mind getting in the mud with pigs

Republicans are creepy.

i think it lowkey speaks to the fact that a lot of Republicans (even in Congress) are basically fascists at this point—obviously, fascists love violence and conflict because it plays into their eternal struggle and siege mindset.

This is gross on so many levels. The “ooooh catfight” aspect is dehumanizing and creepy, but dehumanizing others has been standard operating procedure for these two. I know we have to be better, but boy is it hard.

The undercard for the Musk v. Zuck pay-per-view is really taking shape.

I’m not that surprised. Greene seems to understand the politics in the House and use it to her advantage. She’s not dumb, and she seems to know when and how to flip a position to get what she wants.

In contrast, Boebert is really that dumb and seems over her head. She needs her caucus to act together because she can’t really develop policy outside of being told who to support.

That said, Boebert seems to have the crazy energy to win in a fight that Greene doesn’t have.

In terms of intellect I would call it a draw. Remember Greene is the same person who went on record saying that wildfires were being intentionally caused by George Soros funded lasers from space. She is also on record referring to “gazpacho police” and believing that the 2020 election was rigged. Those are not comments from a smart person. She, like Boebert, is exceptionally dumb. Smart enough though to realize they can make lucrative careers out of preying on the fears of her constituency. We are all smart enough to do that though. It is just that the rest of us choose more honest ways to support our livelihoods.

She also made a tweet talking about “marshall law”. She had a series of really dumb bone apple tea tweets early on.

I was watching the UK House of Commons streams during some of the Brexit debates when May was still PM. I should note I’m an American. Those were very exciting. It was a little over the top with the heckling, but at least it was interesting to watch. It actually felt like representatives debating and doing something. I know that doesn’t happen all the time though; I’ve seen PMs giving speeches to a near empty chamber, just as is often seen on CSPAN with the House or Senate.

Does it every get lively in the House or the Senate? The horror of Jan. 6 aside, the most memorable think I can think of was that vote on Obamacare where McCain sank the vote to repeal. But even then, it was just senators mostly standing around and talking.

not especially (unless there’s procedural fuckery) although i guess addresses/States of the Union have gotten livelier. decorum has generally prevailed in a way that precludes House of Commons-style heckling, unfortunately.

Yeah, I think you’ve nailed the drama side. The other dramatic time is Sinema gave a thumbs down as Mccain did but against the 15-an-hour increase in 2021. https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/sinema-gives-a-thumbs-down-to-federal-minimum-wage-increase-to-15-per-hour/2021/03/05/2428d425-2370-4ed1-91f5-21b4a9495301_video.html That’s about as dramatic as the senate currently gets.

This is the article/report about US politics that I just can’t process into my brain as being anything but intentional satire but I can’t seem to see anything to indicate this is anything other than a real article on a straight news website. Does anyone have any further context about newsrepublic that would help?

An actual fistfight on the House floor would be a pretty sad state of affairs, and not at all something to be celebrated, yet part of me is kind of hoping to see it.

These are fascists looking to destroy America. If they turn on each other, their chances of success are greatly diminished.

There’s ample historical precedent. I say let them fight.

Agreed, but what’s worse is the two Republican house members who went on the record in the article saying that they want to see it too.

It’s happened before. I think someone got can caned over the push for freeing slaves in the 1800s before the civil war.

Yeah, but that was opposing sides. This would be two members of the deplorable party, so I’m down for it.

we’ve already come pretty close to that in the Republican caucus once (back when McCarthy was still in hell and trying to become majority leader), so i’m not surprised to see the prospect continue to linger. there are clearly a ton of Republicans who just hate a lot of the people in their party.
