Poilievre and Rustad offered chilling responses to the Trump shooting.

Unfortunately, The Honorable Leader of HM Official Opposition Mr Polievre is quite likely to sleepwalk into a job as Canada’s next Prime Minister. The current PM is so reviled by Canadians (according to polls - a type of lie know as Statistics), it seems possible that no one in the Liberal Party will be successful in the next election. I’m ashamed to say it’s a good time to be an ex-pat.

As long as it’s not a majority government I can deal with that.

hey its that guy who didn’t read the article, got triggered by the headline, and had to post something snarky to feel better, posting more stuff to manage his own emotions. buddy, there are less embarrassing ways to regulate your emotions.

I’m an American but I assume it’s probably the fault of our conservatives

yeah this isn’t anything I would say as being “new”.

Our government loves to look south, and has loved doing so for decades, to see what you guys are doing and then go “ooooh lets copy that”.

One thing that’s crazy is during 2008 Canada was one of the only countries where were no housing busts or bank failures. It was explained at the time that they didn’t deregulate like the US did in the 90s, and didn’t go crazy with Eurodollar and derivative speculation like the European banks.

The takeaway was that in Canada banking is still a boring business managed by professional adults, overseen by stern but fair regulators who would ensure that things don’t get out of hand.

So what the hell happened? Seemed like the Canadian government and finance people took the lesson that they missed out on a hell of a party and they’re going to have their own housing bubble with blackjack and whatnot.

American conservatives just provided the route; it took our own cruel elitists to walk that road.

It’s the conservative propaganda that’s been blaring since the 60’s. Nothing but hatred and idiocy for decades. Blaming Democrats for issues that don’t exist or aren’t their fault. Never giving a proper solution to anything, just spewing more hate and lies daily.

Our politicians have been importing the US’s politics for ages, even when it doesn’t apply to us

Funny you say that. One of our province’s far right premiers, blamed “progressives” for the same kind of rhetoric in Canada that led to the Trump shooting in the US.

Sounds like she’s getting her taking points from South of the border

She is. There’s a coordinated effort among party strategists across borders.

In case you wonder why the biggest fear of conservatives is trans-national labour unions, it’s because they work trans-nationally, know how well it works, and are terrified of the poors doing the same thing.

Remember when the conservative party had the veneer of morality and decency, with unwavering support for the rule of law? Neither do they.

But they claim they do, and always did, so long as you don’t ask follow-up questions.

This article’s question reminded me of and old and dark joke: when “power user” comes to the grizzled sysadmin with a printout of his very first program and asks “sir, can you see where the error is” to which grizzled sysadmin replied “in DNA” without ever looking away from his screen. Same here… problem is in DNA of conservatism. They are attached to material stuff thus with each iteration removing themselves further from humanity. It’s i escapable for them to end up here.

his very first program

Who’s very first program? The sysadmin or powerruser? Neither of them are likely to make programs, and idk why anyone would bring a printout of a program to a sysadmin to inspect.

I can’t tell if this is self-deprecation of sysadmin or a PEBCAK joke.

This likely originates from the Before Times when universities would have a full time sysadmin who would often write some of the software for the computer system/network at the university. See Bastard Operator From Hell for an example.

Who’s very first program

Indeed, who IS very first? Is any of us really first?

As native speaker of English: English is stupid

I’ll tell you who isn’t first (in my heart); the Angles. Nor are any of their descendants.

Nothing is wrong with our Conservatives in comparison to the Liberals

Liberals are bad
But the conservatives are even worse and that says a lot.

God I wish JT actually followed through on his original campaign promise of election reform.

Same here, JT had a lot of potential and I voted for him in 2015 based of his promises, and you know what, I’m not going to vote for another 4 years of shitty liberal policy. The conservatives are arguably a much better option that the liberals this election.

The conservatives don’t actually have a platform, they just have a handful of slogans. And they have a leader who is proudly ignorant, who would rather have the ability to sling accusations than learn about the subject.

I don’t want to vote for JT, but there aren’t really any other options that don’t result in decimating public services so that PP can let his private sector friends loot the remains. Presumably, because again he has such a vacuous platform, you just have to go by the handful of slogans he has shouted out at rallies.

frankly, both are bad, but I am voting “conservative” because another 4 years of trudeau isn’t really viable.

I kind of agree.
But he still seems more viable than PP. Neither is viable PP.

JT seems like the lesser of evils.
I wanna vote out JT so I can show the liberals that they can’t just lie to us and do whatever they want.
But I also want to keep PP out of power so I can show the PCs that we won’t accept trumpian politicians who cultivate a cult of personality with empty platforms or anti-social policies.

Eh, I think we can agree to disagree that they are both bad and one way or the other unfit to govern Canada. I see JT as an incompetent nepo baby who cant govern shit and PP is an equally incompetent politician who will end up being more or less just like JT. Either way, they are both the pretty same people who won’t change anything and continuously blame each other for their failures, all the while Canada suffers even more.

The Liberals are spineless and not willing to fight the status quo unless prodded by some other party that’s propping up their minority government.

The Conservatives are evil.

Neither are ideal choices, but I’ll take spineless over evil any day of the week.

Arguing whataboutism shows more about you than anything else.

You sure about that?

All conservatives are trash. That’s what.

This is honestly a useless article. No conservative will be swayed by it and it reads like liberal morality preaching.
