If the password database is just locally stored/accessed, then it’s still not as bad. Usually password compromising happens because an online service gets hacked or has a bug. That’s why it’s bad to use the same password multiple times. The biggest risk of having the personal machine targeted directly is via scams or other social engineering attacks. And if your dad fails those, then a strong master password wouldn’t make a difference.
While many will be understandably angry or disappointed in our lack of backbone or perceived selfishness
I’m angry and disappointed, but it is not because awesome people stop dedicating their free time to provide a free product, it’s because some money hungry corporation decided to bully less powerful individuals who didn’t even do anything wrong.
And it’s not the first time that this company did fucked up stuff…
First, do you need it for streamig to different devices (phones tablets, TV), or do you only need it for one device (e.g. the TV).
For the first option I’d choose Jellyfin, for the second option I’d choose Kodi.
Then decide on what device you would like to run it. This also depends on the first option. I can recommend NVidia Shield Pro. I’ve also run Kodi on a Raspberry Pi 4 before, sometimes this ran a bit laggy.
Finally, look for tutorials on YouTube.
Old movies and audiobooks is exactly the reason why I have archive.org in Prowlarr
In another course (statistics if I remember correctly) by another teacher, we actually had to interpret and write MATLAB code on paper, so it was absolutely necessary to be familiar with it even though it was not the actual topic of the course and it was never mentioned as a necessary tool for the course or whole study. There were only books listed that we had to get beforehand, which is pretty normal. Imo they should at least have listed it there, or provided it to the students.
I think I know that course coordinator xD
We had pretty much the same experience. The guy was even kinda pissed off when I said the same could be done in Python too without much additional effort. So our whole class also used the “free student version” 🏴☠️
In my opinion it makes a huge difference between pirating for education compared to pirating for commercial use.

I don’t know overseerr yet, sounds like it might be useful for my gf 🤔 Also never heard of unpacker, gotta check out the advantages of that.
I only recently finally got into docker and it’s amazing. Good thing I spent the extra bucks for the NAS that supports it back when I bought it some years ago. Maybe I’ll switch Sonarr/Readarr/Readarr and Prowlarr to docker too, so that I can manage everything the same way.
I was so close to going legal and signing up for Netflix, and then all the other platforms started to pop up and the content got split over all those. I just want one platform for all my favourite shows and movies. It should be shared like with Spotify/Google-/Apple-/YouTube-Music, not the exclusive chaos that it is now.
Why did they create a poll that is only accecible through new.reddit.com or the official app?? Of course it will be in favour of giving up 🤦🏻♂️
Voting with two comments as done previously is supported by all clients…
Edit: Statement from an official mod (old), they’re internally discussing about an official second post that is also accecible through old reddit
These are nice free options:
Not self hosted though
