Yeah I suggest to get one that is sold by Dune-HD.com like the Homatics Box R. Dune-HD is a reputable brand,
You can buy a flashcart for the DS and run pirated games on it. So as long as those ROM site stay alive you can play games on the DS. The 3DS can also run custom firmware to run roms so you might want to get a 3DS instead of a DS. Installing the custom firmware is really easy https://3ds.hacks.guide/
I’m pretty sure they priced it that high on purpose. They only want devs and enthusiastic
early adopters to buy this thing. Since currently it has no use case for the average user. Apple is probably afraid that if people buy it now and then realize that they don’t see any use for VR in their life they will never buy a VR product again and Apple will have lost that customer forever. Apple hasn’t found the killer app for the mainstream use case for this product yet and thus they are putting it in the hands of the third party developers.
We also seen it happening with other headsets. Lots of people bought a Quest 2 during the corona pandemic, which triggered the Zuck to invest heavily in the meta verse, and now they are collecting dust and nobody visits facebook’s meta verse . The average consumer doesn’t want to strap on a clunky headset just for games or porn.

I still use Kodi on my AppleTV for videos I’m not self hosting. With the Seren add-on and an Alldebrid account I can just stream videos of the internet in high quality (often BluRay quality)
Yeah it’s slow but it’s the only app that supports debrid streaming that can be installed on an AppleTV and I can’t be bothered to buy an android box or hookup my PC to my TV that sits on the other side of the house.
Besides the technical stuff you should probably write that ownership transfers to your spouse and kids into your will. Maybe even write part of your backblaze or even password manager password into the will and the other part in a safety deposit box.
Much easier and quicker for your family to gain access if they have the password than if they have to proof that they are next of kin.
Yeah what Valve is doing is great. Hopefully they will become more mainstream in the future and become more known with the super casual crowd. Nintendo definitely needs more proper competition in the handheld market.
Also FYI it’s Phillips with double L, Philips with one L is the Dutch electronics company.
Same with Photoshop, Maya etc. These corps know that letting consumers pirate their software will create more legit end users. Since people will get used to their software and won’t easily switch when they enter the professional workforce where these corps don’t condone piracy and actually audit businesses. At least in Western nations they even audit small businesses. Like my friend used to work at a small engineering firm in the Netherlands and Autodesk came by to audit the CAD licenses.

Also there is literally a former CIA exec in the exec suite of Activision.

And the Homeland Security Advisor to Dubya was also an exec at Activision

How many other game companies have executives with close ties to the military?
They implement measures to make it very difficult for a single shareholder to gain a majority stake in the company. It’s called a poison pill because it will fuck over every shareholder. Like when a company creates new shares but never put those on sale and thus dilute the shares of all shareholders. Of course the company can only do that if the shareholders voted for such a policy.
Square’s writing has always been garbage. Only the cringiest weebs like that shit. Like the only ones I liked were FF7 and 9 and even then it was only tolerable because they didn’t had voice acting. Because I could read trough some of the awful dialogues quickly. The FF games always have cool over arching storylines but the god awful dialogues always ruins it for me. Now that their games have voice acting I can’t stand to play any of their games any more. I tried Octopath and Triangle Strategy recently and I just couldn’t force my self to listen to the bullshit those characters were muttering, voiced by those shitty anime voice actors.
The one I still remember is Donkey Kong 64. Just a boring collectathon with too much retreading. And it missed the funny writing of previous Rare platformers. Also it had a cringe rap song like every piece of pop media had in the late 90’s even my eleven year old self hated it.
I loved Rare games before that. After that game I stopped buying any Rare games. Probably because Dk64 was the first game I bought with my own money that I saved for a long time. I didn’t even buy Perfect Dark
I can imagine in the future there will be grid locks in front of the police station with AV cars full of black people when the cops send out an ABP with the description of a black suspect.
We’ve seen plenty of racist AI programs in the past because the programmers, intentionally or not, added their own bias into the training data.
It was basically run like a frat house. Ball tapping, farting in people’s faces, unsolicited dick pics. Basically bro culture imposed by the C-suite and that went on for years and when the company punished these men who enabled that behavior all they got was a slap on the wrist. You’d expect a company like that would have a hard time finding people, but no people stay and fresh grads are eager to work there. Basically because it’s one of the biggest employers in the gaming industry in LA. Same with Blizzard, it baffles me why people still want to work there after all the shit that happened there while Kotick and his then girlfriend, Sheryl Sandberg, even tried to cover the story up.
Probably because it’s the best paying job he can ever get. What’s he gonna do when he leaves? Which other podcast/YouTube channel can he work for that’s in the Greater Vancouver Area? If he leaves his live would get upended, he either needs to move or switch careers and in both cases probably takes a salary cut. This is how shitty bosses like Linus retain employees. Just look at other shitty companies where employees don’t have transferable skills that only apply to one very specific industry, like for example the gaming industry. Employees don’t leave even when the bosses behave terribly, like Riot Games
He deactivated his and his company’s Twitter account. Remind him what a scumbag he his when he activates those accounts again in a month.
