Not practically. You’d have to be replacing the trees faster than you chop them down just to account for the energy(and thus carbon) used to chop them and process them. Then there’s the fact that decomposition will also release the carbon, so you HAVE to use the lumber for stuff that is intended to last at least as long the tree grew, or else that tree is still a net negative.

No, you can’t. There are trillions of trees on earth and the impact they have on carbon emissions is relatively minimal, planting a forest or even many forests isn’t going to cut it.

Not to mention that for trees to be an at all viable long term carbon capture method, you can’t ever cut those trees down. If we can’t leave the fucking Amazon alone, what makes you think we won’t chop up that artificial forest in 50 years?

This is the same issue with kelp. Kelp has a ton of uses, and is an even better carbon sink than trees are, but to be a carbon sink you have to forgo all of those other uses because you have to literally sink the kelp to the bottom of the ocean and leave it there, because actually using it for anything just rereleases the carbon.

Can’t help you with any of the other stuff, but to answer your 4k question: No, you still need your 4k collection for best quality. Upscaled 1080p is still 1080p, it just makes it not look wonky on a 4k display. Any details lost due to the source resolution will still be lost, you can’t create extra detail out of thin air.

A lot people like playing on genuine hardware, and this enables skipping a ton of steps to making that possible. For those select people this really is a massive convenience if maybe not a godsend.

In the case of business’s, liability reasons, real and imagined, mostly prevent just “switching” OS’s freely.

In the case of home users, think of how many people you know that have a windows computer. Now how many of those people can you confidently say could install ANY OS, let alone handle setting up Linux or bypassing TPM requirements for W11?

Personally, out of the hundreds of people I know with a windows computer, I can count on my fingers how many I’m confident in being able to install an OS. Most people are really not tech savvy. They will just ride it out with no security patches until it becomes Jenn’s laptop from the IT Crowd, and then they’ll chuck it in the garbage.

use your proprietary software in the OS you are allowed to use. Not seeing the issue.

The OS they are able to use is Windows 10. They likely don’t meet the TPM requirements to update to Windows 11(as if you’d wanna use it anyways); so when W10 goes EoL, they will be SoL(shit out of luck) on getting future security patches. Which is y’know, bad, especially on the machine you do actual work on.

Creation is built on code over 20 years old at this point, and it shows

You can just as easily say the same thing about Unreal Engine, Frostbite, CryEngine, etc… all of these engines are built on decade(s) old code to some degree. The problem isn’t Creation Engine, it’s Bethesda. Unreal isn’t a magic bullet. The results if they used Unreal at this point would likely be worse, not better.

By definition, no, but most people probably assume negativity when they hear the word rant.

I mean, Skyrim SE and FO4 had some level of mod support even on consoles. That was and still is mostly unheard of otherwise.

LMAO I got fucking rick rolled on the napster section

“People get out of poverty faster when poverty is 100% optional”

More news at 11.

This is pretty fucking shitty. This would be fine if they didn’t supplant CSGO entirely with CS2, but they did.

Can I see an OG PS5 next to it for scale? It’s hard to visualize how much smaller it is.

Yeah well, the propaganda has gotten even more blatant and it’s still the worlds best selling game every year. So I think it’s totally reasonable to continue having this conversation.

Because it’s not a message plus an entirely separate mechanical system

Except they kinda are separate. It doesn’t matter how good your story is, if it’s a total slog of mediocre boring gameplay to get that story I’m just not gonna bother. If the actual game part of your game is bad, it’s a bad game; if only the story is good, you may as well make it a movie, book or something else like that.

Telltale games were also really bad games for basically the same reasons, should’ve just been direct-to-video/streaming movies. Fight me.

I mean, their letter wasn’t written after he was accused though, it was written after he was convicted of it. They weren’t merely expressing shock or disbelief, they were trying to provide a character witness to try to reduce his sentence on his RAPE CONVICTION.

Raytracing, no chance just from a performance standpoint even if it “supports” it, but DLSS is a given. If anything, I’m worried they’ll end up relying on DLSS to get games “playable”, just like what’s happening on PC.

It’ll definitely be DLSS 2, though. No chance they get DLSS 3.

I get the complaint with starfield since transferring stuff to your companions or ship is such a pain with their awful UI, but it’s not even an issue in BG3.

99% of the time my party members have plenty of room to store all my shit, and in the rare occasion they don’t it’s a sign I have tons of shit to sell. On the even rarer occasion I run out of room in a situation where I can’t easily leave, I can just send my extra crap to camp. Mind you, besides Shadowheart(Str 18) me and my party members all have base strength.

Pretty good actually. If I had to criticise, about half-way up the forehead he turns back into generic fallout 4 white dude. Might be a limitation of the face sculpting tools tho, so not bad.

My cousin just bought a 2tb nvme for $60, $10 more than a 2tb hdd cost 2 years ago.

Skyrim for PS3 is in an unacceptable state to this day. The longer you play a save the worse the performance gets. My cousin finished the game at like 5 fps.

Nah, the specific issue they’re having is definitely a memory issue. Split-screen doesn’t really require that much more processing power, but it does need more memory, and preferably faster memory, to buffer everything.

I legitimately have no idea how much more game I have. I finally got to the edge of Baldurs Gate and have been chilling here for like 10 hours, haven’t even gotten inside the city proper yet.

There is a hidden setting for essentially that. It might be exclusive to Nightly though, idk since all I need is UBO

lol what are you smoking? Recess hasn’t gone anywhere lmao. In fact, I fucking wish I had as cool of a playground for recess as my nephew does when I was a kid. Shit’s fancy as fuck, all kinds of monkey bars, rock walls, a puke-a-tron that puts the merry-go-rounds of old to shame, etc… Mind you, he goes to school in a super liberal school district of an already very liberal state. The park district playgrounds have gotten way cooler too, one of the playgrounds at my local park has a fucking zipline now.

The fact that fucking recess is the best you could come up with, and it’s just blatantly not even fucking true, says it all.

Also, girls like outdoor recess too, MORE so than boys, actually, in my experience. What a weird thing to gender.

Are you mixing me up with someone else? That was my first comment in this entire thread so that’s a lot of assumptions to throw on me. Nowhere did I say there weren’t socialist/communist success stories. The person I replied to specifically singled out China as an example of a communist success, all I pointed out is that they’re neither communist nor successful.

China is communist in name only, in practice they are the definition of State Capitalism. I also wouldn’t describe a dictatorship that commits genocide as a success, in any case.

I’ve never seen that particular “error” before, but juddging by how it looks you there’s probably a run anyway button hidden under “more info”.

It’s great that it works for what you play, but it doesn’t for me. Hopefully the steamdeck train continues to pick up steam, because it’s pretty much the only reason Linux gaming is gaining ground.

It’s the principle of the matter to me. Google became the multibillion dollar corporation it is by selling my data, your data, everyones data. To then come around and demand I pay to continue using their service the way I have for over a decade? But also still continue selling our data? Nah, fuck that. When they cut me in a percentage on the data selling business, maybe then I’d consider premium.

You’re assuming they’re actually going to respond to the issues reported. Maybe at first they will, but I’d wager that it won’t be long before all reporting an issue does is send an automated “We’re looking into it” email before promptly deleting the ticket.
