unabashed shills

Damn I’m a shill now :( sorry I enjoyed be able to game when I didn’t have good hardware.

Cloud gaming is not for everyone but just cause some people found use in it doesn’t make them a shill. Everyone I know from cloud gaming circles only used it till getting a decent PC or console

I used it for a good few years when it first was a thing. It’s pretty decent when you are close to the server and have stable enough connection. I played quite a through few steam games this way through geforce now. Even cyberpunk 2077 was a great experience on it.

It’s a great stepping stone between getting new hardware but once I finally got my PC I just stopped using it.

Now gfn was the only good implementation cause it used your existing steam (and I hear now Xbox) library, instead of being locked to the app itself, so you could even see it as a extension to your setup

I’d imagine most people using YouTube aren’t looking for TV/movie style content, rather the user created stuff. Or maybe TV shorter clips.

This is true. Best use is still using something like soulseek for offline files but algorithm actually let’s you discover outside of the same couple dozen bands

Unless you are trying to the the ps3 game the ps2 and psp should be able to be emulated on literally any pc.

Hell psp runs fine on most android phones as well.

You literally have to be trying to not find a way to play these games if you say they aren’t easy to play. Fuck legality if the copyright hold is sitting on these games for no fucking reason

Its very easy to play the older AC games. Download a rom/iso and emulator

This is exactly why emulation is a needed thing.

We will need to see how it works, but the software checks in theory will be hardware based, so if the yuzu or ryujinx devs figure it out we should be good. Roms will still popup quick

Let’s be real, the devs of switch emulators will get past whatever shit they put in. Denuvo isn’t gonna harm switch games nearly as bad as PC games

Edit: Worse case it just need a more unique console identification which might curve piracy but not stop legit emulation

I’m one of the very few who dump my own roms and use as a sorta cross platform game save.

Gameplay wise it’s a blast. The story is a pretty basic anime esc story. Back when it first came out the pvp and pve was a blast as well.

I am very hyped. I got into mech games from daemon x mechina and want onto playing some of the older AC games. When they announced this my heart damn near stopped

Since you bought it, in theory you’ve supported the creators. Pirating it is 1000% fine in that case (or in any case)

In reality all the people who actually worked hard to make the film has been paid long before you bought it and the only creators getting the money are the owners of the companies. Unless you are buying from the creators source.

Before this tweet, they also mentioned piracy over grey market keyshops, which seems to be a lot more of a valid reason to endorse it. This seemly links to that tweet.

I loved the skip puzzles feature! I struggle with them a lot and I’ve dropped so many games cause of them.

You should be able to transfer the Playlist to qobuz (the app will do ask if you wanna do this using soundiiz) and use qobuz-dl with a free trial to download the playlist

Locked down software is shit don’t get me wrong, but being able to jailbreak it feels so good.

Setting up accounts on last.fm and/or listenbrainz is a must for those who want to track listening habits, make charts etc. See https://feddit.de/c/scrobble if you want help setting it up.

Yeah, I’ve spent more money on smaller bands through Bandcamp then I ever have on streaming services, all thanks to piracy, since I realized it’s much better for offline files.

Yes the effects would be terrible for everyone, that’s why I am against it.

This appears closer to something like steam’s remote play together, where you can connect to local multiplayer games with streaming. You could use it as a sort of GeForce Now service, but it wouldn’t be the best way to do it.

The meme is a good case of correlation doesn’t imply causation. In countries where vpns are a must they might have better overall download/seed because of generally better internet. (Which also isn’t always the case, plenty of places in the USA have just as shitty down/up

I was moreso referring to dealing with the dark patterns that apps use in general, not the school doing that.

This was my experience with schooling as well. Sure I had my phone but it wasn’t what I needed to lose focus. The issue is how school is taught. I’ve had classes where I’m so focused and invested because of the professor and content. My mind wouldn’t even think about being bored. But some professors are honestly shit and don’t engage enough. Couple that with the general school environment and boom nobody wants to be there.

I appreciate your comment. I have personally avoided tiktok due to other parts of the internet (as well as coworkers and friends) portrayal of it. However you shed some light into things I would actually find value in as a person. I do see this sense of community as very good thing. My concern is more on the side of how addicted one can get to it, but I assume if it is giving them a community they never had, is it a bad thing?

I actually quite like your conclusion. Targeted ads have added nothing of value to the common person. I guess it also is part of the reason I blame the addictive nature of these apps, they want you addicted to show ads and make money.

I would assume the average school child is more concerned about instagram or tiktok vs other parts of the internet. I would not be against finding a way to limit access to other sites, but I would prefer a privacy respecting way. Just requiring an ID is a shitty solution and screws over adults more then it helps kids (they will find grandma’s id.) If a privacy valuing solution is brought up I would be 1000% supporting it.

I understand the logic that UNESCO is trying to make. However instead of a global ban on the device itself, ban the addictive parts of it. TikTok and most other corporate social media are designed to keep everyone, kids and adults alike as addicted to the platform as possible. Phones are still a valuable resource for a student, including being able to call in the event of an emergency or having access to maps or other things.

Ban the actual evil on the phones, not the phones themselves

Google works and it doesn’t. I use Duckduckgo, and in general it works decent. Both suck and so does brave search so I don’t really have many options that I know of. I always end up searching with reddit to get any real result, as its always the same clickbaity shifty sites.

The sad part is, Google ends up being the best of all the shittyness, because whenever I search some local none of the other engines know what to do. The number of times I have to switch to Google for a address is sad.

Thats a totally a fair thing to store, dubs of different languages tend to be worse preserved.

Since I mainly download music, yes I store it forever. Too much good stuff just disappears online especially stuff I listen to.

As for shows and movies, I download and save more obscure stuff, but I really watch TV/movies anyways so.

I currently have a 18tb drive that I got for like $140.

As an additional FYI, sunshine also works on MacOS/Linux so don’t be scared to try it

It’s a good solution for most, but if you are like me and need desktop access or anything else it isn’t enough

It is a display emulator that plugs into your GPU, that makes it think it is a monitor. They can be used for anything that doesn’t need a display, or in my case to turn off my actual display when I stream

My setup goes like this.

https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine - for the streamer on pc

https://moonlight-stream.org/ - for your client apps

https://github.com/hansschmucker/NVStreamer1080 - I have a Dummy HDMI plug that goes up to 4k60fps for streaming to my TV, this allows me to switch to it instead of my monitor when streaming.

https://tailscale.com/ - For remote access. the free plan will work well enough.

This combo works very well for what I need.

If you are like me and have a dummy hdmi and wanna switch to it when streaming this helps as well.

Games that Don’t Fake the Space
This video is an incredible look into the idea of size and space in video games. Highly recommend a watch.
