I couldn’t give a Windows PC to my grandparents, either, though.

Sometimes I just sit and stare at my apache access logs because I’m bored

GoAccess is pretty nice for a broad overview of Apache logs, also.

For other services I generally just look at them every now and then and if something looks off I investigate. I found a cryptominer on my network once because it was spamming DNS and that shows up in DNS logs.

I’ll look at lxc snapshots after the hardware upgrade I got lined up, thanks!

It’d be a pain in the rear to rebuild everything. This proxmox machine is the center of everything, even housing the disk all the config backups are on. I should probably not be doing that…

I’m going to experiment with this! I would love to get rid of Proxmox, it has so many problems and I only run containers anyway.

Is there an easy way to migrate containers? I’m not well versed in LXC despite using it for years.

The 2 images in “A little introduction” both seem dead.

I did switch and had way more problems… And still no IPv6, either.

I honestly thought only paid users could use the official forums…

I’ll post it there, too! Thank you

[Solved, but…] pfsense updated itself, no more IPv6 from ISP DHCP6
This has been solved. After calmly yelling at my ISP support for 3 weeks, they finally conceded and admitted that this is their problem and not mine. It will be fixed soon, maybe. Probably not, but hopefully. I'm not hopeful, but maybe it might be. ========================================= Hello! My pfsense box has seemingly decided to attain sentience and its first action was to spite its master. I had a pending update for 2.7.0-RELEASE but now the system is running 2.7.0 - seemingly having updated itself. The problem is that there seems to be a problem retrieving an IP from my ISPs DHCP6 server on this version. https://u.drkt.eu/zVDJKb.png My ISP has double-checked for me, and they are handing out an IP that should look like 2a05:f6c7:8321::/48 and this is consistent with what I expect it to look like. Going through my pfsense settings, nothing seems to have changed from the settings my ISP require for IPv6 to work. My pfsense box is attached directly to their fiber modem, communicating on vlan 101 This is set up as follows (these links may not work if you use IPv6) redact If I run tcpdump and then restart the gateway, I get these packets ``` tcpdump -ni alc0.101 -c 1000 -U -w - '((ip6)) and ((not vlan))' redact ``` Any help or guidance is appreciated!

Oh yeah it works so I guess by that metric it’s not dead

Of course, silly me

A lot of Danish libraries have ebooks, but its a proprietary system and requires a compatible ereader. That basically means it only works for kindles.

I haven’t used it at all, I don’t bother

Can you explain to me how racial bias in general-purpose LLM is a problem to begin with?

Sure was! Don’t believe I’ve posted anything to indicate that I’m an Altman stan, I’m just here to watch OpenAI squirm.

They sold out. They used to be pretty open, now they’re just another corporation.

configs are backed up I can spin up a new container in minutes, I just accept the manual labor. It’s probably a good thing to clean out the spiders and skeletons every now and then.

Oh good another Windows N? Because, if you’ve tried to use it, I’m sure you’d know how well that went.

Doctors are expensive in most parts of the world and don’t care in the rest

I agree

Let’s try out some systems where artists don’t have to suffer this way. Maybe UBI?

If people have bet their livelihoods on fleeting hobbies on platforms that actively fuck them over, repeatedly, then frankly I can’t be too upset about it.

People will make stuff for free because they enjoy it. Most people don’t have much free time to chase their creative hobbies; I wish we didn’t live in a world where artists have to justify their existence by monetary means, but let’s not pretend that ads are paying for the creative underclass.

You can plop a youtube channel URL into an RSS reader and it’s a valid RSS. You don’t need a Google account in that case, but of course Google could just stop supporting RSS at any point.

SC has been working on this problem since before 2021, but no they didn’t invent the concept. They are attempting to implement it at a scale that nobody has been able to do as flawlessly as SC requires. If they pull it off, it’ll be an incredible leap.

There are no game engines that do completely seamless server meshing at the moment. SC is trying to do that.

I can’t discount that the state of my network is somehow responsible for putting me in near-empty servers (it’s complicated), but your second paragraph is exactly spot on.

Yes, actually. Do you read what you’re replying to?

Actually just have a good day, I hope you find what you seek in life.

I’d like to meet those 50000 average daily players, because they sure aren’t on any of the server I play on.

I’m glad you’re having fun. This is not a reasonable response to criticism of your favorite space toy simulator. I have invested money into this, too. I also want it to thrive. I hope you have a lovely day.

Those are excellent points if the game wasn’t a broken mess where your ship will blow up on the pad for no reason. It’s a tech demo, they even say as much, so I don’t understand why you have to insist that it’s a real game that people totally play for realsies. There are like 14 people who play the current iteration seriously, everyone else are just trying to keep up to date on the status of SC.

I would be a much bigger fan of SC if I didn’t have to grind for days to experience half of what this tech demo wants to demo me. Are we alpha testers or are we suckers? Also the game ate my money, anyway.

The time restriction will make sense when there is a game to play, not while it’s a tech demo.

In the case of SC, if the game literally makes you sit and do nothing for 10m, that’s one thing. But my guess is it doesn’t. My guess is you can do other things in the meantime

What do you mean by ‘guess’? Have you not played it?

Yeah but they have a useful instrument panel. The panels in SC are not particularly useful except for combat. There’s 3 separate graphs that display your power usage in the Cutlass, not counting the HUD.

I’m not trying to be snarky, but landing in hangars or on pads in SC requires third person mode. You have no tools to check your clearance except experience. I have no issue landing F-35s in VTOL VR without autopilot assistance, or flying IFR/VFR in MSFS, but in SC I feel like I’m piloting a brick through a tank-commanders vision slits. Even dedicated fighters place the pilot so low in the cockpit that the entire bottom half of the screen is just interior and MFDs. Real fighter pilots can look down at a decent angle, because visual is essential in dogfighting which is the only kind of fighting this game has.

The intention is for SC to be a space sim sandbox,

But it’s not, it’s a tech demo where your ship blows up on the pad for no reason

I booted it up yesterday. Flew around at 10 FPS and gawked at some pretty locations. Bought armor and weapons for my allotted alpha money and crashed.

Booted it back up today, all gone. FPS was better. Took an elevator and got stuck in an ether-world. Respawned. Had to wait 10 real-time minutes for my ship to be “delivered” to the station it should’ve already been at. Flew to a lagrange point just to see the volumetric gas clouds. Couldn’t find any stations. RTB, quit, uninstalled.

I’m going to be brutally honest; if they do not start designing their ship cockpits with at least input from a real pilot then I’m gonna start being upset about it. You can’t see anything! Huge canopies in fighter cockpits, can’t see shid. I would accept this if they had implemented synthetic vision so you could just x-ray through the ship hull, but you can’t, and I’ve never heard them talk about it so I assume it’s not on the table. A lot of the ship HUDs are also dense with useless information, blocking more of my view.

Yeah, I’ve had fun too, but on playthrough 4+ they don’t add anything. It’s just stress. I’m good enough at this game to not worry much about it, but it’s still a net negative. If they are very susceptible to this kind of stress, I’m saying they can just turn them off. They don’t add anything to the core gameplay except time stress and that’s good for some and bad for others. One of the major strengths of Factorio is how expansive the vanilla options are.

SEO sucks My site, which has actual content, doesn’t even show up on google. Someone else with the same domain and a different tld who has no content on his site is at the top. They have a marketing team, how am I gonna compete? Don’t worry about SEO, just have good content. People are gonna find it, SEO or not.

I must have a thousand hours in this game by now; just try it without the biters. I don’t bother them anymore, either. It’s literally just stress, they add nothing else.

rDNS, how?
I'm on at least 2 blocklists at this point for the crime of not having reverse DNS set up. **I don't know how rDNS works.** No amount of reading Wikipedia is helping me understand what I have to do. - I have **a domain at a registrar** which gives me bog standard DNS. - I have **Apache** running on my network. - I have **PiHole** running on my network. My understanding is that rDNS is not set up at my registrar, but somewhere in my network. What do I do? Thank you for your time.
