But you expect other people to use their free (literally unpaid) time to code what you want them to rather than what they care about or think is important. After theyve already made all of their work and progress free and openly available to anyone who wants to build off it. You have a fucked up view of the world.

Yup i bike year round also and the worst part is drivers forcing me into the slush and plow furroughs, which would be solved by proper bike lanes.

Just buy an air mouse for $20 and you don’t have to get up to change episodes. Doesn’t help with having to unplug it from the hdmi all the time but that’s less of a hassle if you can just do it once when you start watching and then control everything from the couch.

Or they just made an announcement in 2021 about their existing content management tools and how much they’ve spent on them over the years. That’s how I read it anyway.

I can imagine a return to some sort of t9 style typing where you could wear a thin sensor on your finger tips then tap certain fingers a certain number of times to enter specific characters. People who were used to typing with t9 could do it very quickly and without looking.

I’ve been using a $20 air remote off Amazon for years now. The tracking is honestly incredible and the device is built like an old Nokia phone. I’ve launched it off the bed or couch hundreds of times, even had the plastic casing bust open, but when I clicked it back together it still works good as new, and it’s even good enough to play simple point and click/mousepowered games on the TV. The front is all media/TV controls and the back is a full keyboard, with a toggled backlight. It’s honestly so much better than any of the media center remotes I’ve used including the apple tv one or the firestick one.

That’s crazy, I haven’t used Netflix in a while but when I did one of the main reasons was the variety of subtitles/audio dub options. Even when watching from other countries through my VPN for access to stuff that was blocked in my country, it always had English subtitles and usually like 20 other languages, and for foreign language shows you could choose any combination of dubbed/original language audio and any language subtitles.

Two days of snow sure doesn’t seem like the winter I remember. In the winter I remember you’d have 4 or 5 big snows like that and the snow would stick around for the rest of the season. Now if you don’t rush out to build your snowman the next day, your chance is gone.

I mean I heard Winnipeg is a frozen Shithole from a very reputable source so that tracks. In ontario though winter basically stopped existing 10 years ago.

Assuming your numbers sre even correct, id say thats more an issue with the cdc underreporting mental health issues than with Canadians being more predisposed. Also what is your point exactly?

Wait so our already warm and (relatively) snow less winters over the last few years are now gonna be even warmer and less snowy? Good thing global warming’s not real and this is totally just a phase mother earth is going through or something.

This is a terrible idea. There’s plenty of resources out there that has links to everything you could ever want, why would it all need to be stored in one place. The piracy megathread has resources for everything you mentioned, with redundancies and multiple sources. It’s really not that hard to find anything you need. If I want a book I go to a certain site, if I want software or games I have 2 or 3 torrent sites, if I want to stream TV or movies I have dedicated sites for that. What good does putting it all in one spot do except make that a bigger target?

I don’t remember much of angel but in supernatural it’s eldritch creatures posing as billionaires to control and dumb down humanity to use them as a perpetual food source. Actually pretty deep and prescient for an older show.

Right? I feel like it hasn’t. My first thought on seeing the link was ‘holy shit penny arcade still exists’ followed swiftly by ‘oh dear God what is this hideous malformation of my nostalgia’ shortly after the art loaded.

Idk I think it’s just not worth those countries time to waste resources on individual piracy, just to enforce American copyright. The Netherlands is probably worried about protecting their own content, and regardless, it’s the seedbox company taking most of the risk. You lived there so you’d probably know better but I haven’t heard of anyone in the Netherlands being prosecuted, and definitely not anyone in North America being prosecuted for what’s on a NL server. Idk its always risky I guess but seedboxes seem to minimize the risk similar to a VPN and come with other benefits if you’re into private trackers etc.

Lots of countries don’t care about torrenting , at least not the way the US does. Without the riaa/mpaa going after individual users can you point me to a single high profile legal case involving an average downloader? People in alot of other countries don’t even bother with a VPN. Not sure why you’re bringing up a un group as I’m pretty sure that’s mostly for diplomatic disputes, I’ve definitely never heard of it used to prosecute someone for downloading movies. This info is all widely available online. I’m happy to have answered a one off question for you but if you’re just trying to be difficult I have no interest in continuing to answer your questions when the info is very easy to obtain with a quick search. There’s lots of torrent friendly countries out there where the movie studios don’t make legal policy.

If the seedbox is in a country that doesn’t care about torrenting and is hosted by a company that doesn’t care, they’re the only ones who would be aware of it. It’s not illegal to pay for a server or to download files from your server.

So with a seedbox its basically an offsite swrver that you tell to download the files you want, rhen you download them direct from the seedbix. Because theyre dedicated servers you get better download and upload speeds for preserving your ratio, you don’t have to use local storage to seed things, and it can be safer if your seed box is in another country because your isp doesn’t see any torrent traffic.

Everyone always recommends the torrent solutions, plex and the arrs, but unless it’s something I’m really excited about or want in extra high quality, I find it’s easier to just use the browser streaming sites. In Firefox with ublock there’s no ads, it has subtitles for multiple languages loaded automatically usually, and a nice ui that shows most popular show/movies, and has a good catalogue. There’s lots to choose from, I think the guide has a list, but the ones I use are:

Bflix.gg Hdtoday.cc Fmovies.to

Quick, simple and painless.

And telecoms, and the oil industry, and education. Fuck it just do something, ANYTHING to make this fucjing country a little bit less dystopic.

Bflix.gg or some other similar site, in a browser with ublock. That’s what I do for 90% of what my girlfriend and i watch, then we torrent some things that were really excited about, or like a season at a time of a tv show.

That’s funny I found the total opposite with red dead. Too much stupid bullshit like fishing and getting shaved and twenty minute fucking horse rides and not enough actual fun gameplay, just filler all the time. Of course I tried to play it like a completionist when I probably should’ve treated it like grand theft auto and just advanced the story by doing more missions.

I mean that’s great for the mattress, but before uour molten lava phone battery starts burning a hole in the mattress, the sheets and duvet and pillows and pajamas will already have gone up in a huge blaze so I don’t think it’s gonna help much.

That’s how I understand it, and from my experience it’s accurate as well. Alberta is basically Kentucky or Alabama or something.

*edit but I don’t think that it’s worse than those places, definitely canada is not MORE racist, especially in general.

Wtf you can’t get narcan in the US? Here in Canada like everyone has it. I work in a restaurant and we have two kits in the kitchen, I also have two at home because they’ve been giving them out free. My girlfriends mom keeps some in her car and used it once already to save a person overdosing on the street. Why in hell would something like this be regulated when the US is in a massive opioid crisis?

There is no healthy free market. That was always a lie spun by those who want to control the market and give the illusion of choice until they’re so ingrained that the illusion is no longer necessary.

Yup. I found 4chan like 13 years ago, right around when the “pools closed” thing happened. I was unhappy, dissatisfied with society, alienated from other people, and thought I was better than everyone else. Thats a dangerous combination, and I started off by trying to just be ‘edgy’ and shock people, but with increasing desensitization i shudder to think what might have happened if I hadn’t started smoking weed and talking to more people and eventually found psychedelics. I don’t cesdit drugs alone with getting me out but it definitely helped me relate to others and build a sense of empathy which allowed me to see through the (in retrospect) bullshit.

Yeah fuck these people. “Liberals don’t always do what I want and NDP never wins they just join with the liberals so I’m gonna vote conservative even though they ruin everything for everyone”.

Start blacklisting the devices then. People will learn quick that their device is infected if everything stops working for them lol.

I never made any justifications or claims of morality. I don’t think pirating is some moral service in most cases, but I also strongly disagree that it’s immoral. And yes, it may be a small percentage, but there are people out there pirating purely for archival sake. Archive.org has dumps of old games for pretty much every system. Lots of retro games would be unplayable now if people hadn’t pirated them. Same with books and movies that go out of print. It definitely does help to keep the media alive.

My main point though was that I strongly disagree that there’s any immoral or unethical about it, provided I’m not profiting off your work. You literally would never even have a way of knowing, if i kept a copy just for personal use. It’s also definitely not theft, it’s a civil matter and in civil matters you have to prove damages, which is impossible in the example you gave because there is no damage to you (or your reputation).

What if I can’t afford it? What if I wouldn’t pay for it even if I could? How are you harmed by me putting it on my wall? You still have 500 photos to sell, and you didn’t lose a customer because I never was one to begin with.

I don’t think I’m entitled to it, I just think it’s a victimless situation. I download shit because I can and because I wouldn’t pay for it anyway. And noone is harmed or effected in any way.

I imagine it’s because someone commented on it so it shows activity. Dunno how the first commenter found it though. Probably just scrolled all the way back lol.

They only deserve what people are willing to pay. It’s like those scammers in foreign countries who push bracelets on you and then demand money for them. If people aren’t willing to pay $600 for your software, you don’t automatically deserve that money just because you said you do.
