I’m so excited! I never even got around to trying bots much less beat the game, so 2.0 will be a good excuse to get back into it :)

After a purge I’m left with YNAB, Microsoft 365, GitHub Copilot, and a YouTube membership to City Planner Plays (s/o).

I’m particularly annoyed with MS365 because of how intertwined with Windows it has become, making it harder to get rid of the subscription… and it is kinda nice to reinstall Windows, login, and everything is just … there. Just as it was 20 minutes ago.

Couple weeks ago I did a cleanse and found my subscriptions had ballooned to nearly $150/mo. They should not be able to charge on auto pay when they switch the terms and raise the prices.

I don’t get it either, I don’t feel it’s difficult to learn. Personally I very much enjoy writing SQL. It’s satisfying.

My problem is I’ve never yet really seen a project through, or contributed to FOSS to experience that, though I really want to. I feel like I’d get overwhelmed, and can’t possibly contribute anything of value, and would just get in the way. I know it’s not true, there are endless projects of varying complexity, and I could certainly learn an existing codebase if I found the confidence to try.

I think I’m an decent programmer as measured by these values. Having no real training/education, I often doubt my abilities.

Sheesh I’m glad I didn’t try to offer my help, this is all so over my newbie data analyst head.

SmartTube for Google/Android TVs! So amazing. AdBlock and sponsorblock built in.

I have a bad habit of restarting all the time, and I’ve always loaded up on mods… I’ve just never expanded enough to figure out logistic bots which kinda intimidate me.

I’ve been torrenting in the US for a decade and a half without a VPN, including as a kid on my parents network LOL, and only got warnings, maybe once every couple years. Tons of copyrighted materials. ATT then Charter, YMMV.

I’ve been running 11 since the first leak and haven’t looked back. I actually really dislike using 10 in comparison.

I have like 400 hours and have never launched a rocket, used logistic bots, or made a train, lmao fml but I adore this game

I’ll support any company who makes an incredible game and charges a fair price without implement IAP and such.

Please share the source for your claim about certification? My searching left me nothing but a snopes article debunking similar claims.

The OpenAI guy (sam Friedman or Altman??) also expressed this a couple months ago if I’m not mistaken. The stakes for them are much higher and they have to be way more careful about what they release. Glory to FOSS!

I think I saw that someone’s making a translation later of sorts so the Lemmy API is more like the reddit one, I suppose to help with easing migration.

I mean, it couldn’t have worked as they clearly didn’t even think about those communities in the first place, they had to be called out.

Yep unpopular opinion I hate hate hate discord for anything but normal chat. The threads they added recently are neat and I hope they keep going in that direction.

I downloaded OpenTTD for the millionth time and got sucked into it again. Many sleepless nights!

It felt so much better to engage on forums. felt a bit slower and more intentional. And signatures, the signatures! Love their choice here.

The general themes on r/antiwork helped me leave a job after being disrespected after asking for a fair raise. That led to switching careers into data science and doubling me salary and doing far more meaningful work. There, I met a colleague, a 45 year old woman, and we were talking about pay equity and our current workplace, and she brought up to ME that she followed antiwork during COVID and how it also helped her realize her self-worth. She’s now moved and found an even better opportunity.

It’s mega cringe a lot of the time, and the value drops off after a month or two of following I’d say, but overall I think it was a force for good. At least in two people’s lives.
