Well when the alternative is Bing quality search results, Google still has a slight edge.

That gap is closing by the day tho.

Also from the source:

To sustain our ongoing development efforts, about half of Signal’s overall operating budget goes towards recruiting, compensating, and retaining the people who build and care for Signal. When benefits, HR services, taxes, recruiting, and salaries are included, this translates to around $19 million dollars per year.

I recently looked at buying NBA league pass in the UK, £100 to watch games that aren’t on at a reasonable time and still full of ads…

Now I’ve set up RSS to download the games, and the uploaders even cut the ads and intermissions.

They sound like a great person to work with, “it’s not my fault for lack of documentation, it’s your fault for being an idiot”

I just don’t think it’s good to let a company get away with not improving.

The small improvements they have made in Starfield are alright, but it feels like the bar was set with Skyrim and they can’t even really match something from 12 years ago.

I do not have high hopes for TES VI and I’m half expecting something extremely dated, as based off FO4 and Starfield I think the studio’s best days are behind them at this point.

It is essentially just a tech demo BUT, I would say they’ve touched on what I wanted from the space travel.

You can take off, fly the ship, point it up, and then boost off into space. That’s fun, that’s what I wanted, and I don’t think it’s really expecting that much.

“It’S NoT ReAlIsTiC”, none of it’s realistic, it’s a video game ffs.

It’s a fun and engaging mechanic that I’d expect in a great space game.

Bethesda’s seeming disdain for anything that could be considered a fun and seamless mechanic is frustrating. And fanboys seemingly have no expectation that Bethesda games should actually get better and improve on their weak areas.

Even if they think it’s a fun mechanic, they fundamentally fucked the amount you can carry imo. Should be higher than it is by default, because I straight up don’t want to waste skill points on that.

Then they’ve fucked the amount of cargo you can have on a ship. Either make it infinite, or ridiculously high even for a small ship.

I’ve got multiple freight containers on my ship, and apparently each can only carry about the same amount as my character??

imo the entire game needs a once over to add in a ton of QOL improvements.

It could really benefit from some sort of vehicle as well.

I land on a planet, sprint 300m to the first point of interest, 900m to the next, 700m to the next etc. and most of it is just sprinting through nothing…

Feels like it’s just wasting my time, as there is literally nothing in between. I think a little hover bike would be a great addition to the game.

Bland release notes.

I wanted some spicy ✨bipolar ranting

Even without a lawsuit, is it worth the hassle?

They’d lose a lot of trust in case they ever wanted to do something similar in future.

I’d be furious with any company if they pulled that sort of shit with a product I owned.

Having just looked up the equivalent PC specs, it really doesn’t seem like a lot of power.

I imagine the game can run “fine”, but they probably need to do a fair bit of optimisation or people will complain about the way it looks and frame rate.

One of the benefits consoles used to have was everyone running the same hardware, but they’ve lost that now and I don’t imagine console players will be as accepting of lower quality as PC players with low end GPUs.

Not really the place for it, but why do some people still get so annoyed about the size of games these days?

If you want games to continue improving then the file sizes are going to increase. Maybe devs could do more, but at the same time it’s just a fact that high res textures and larger scale games need more space.

I’d say his own snarky attitude and outbursts have created that toxic environment though, and it’s trickled down to the upper management so that they feel they can get away with this shit.

If you’ve watched his videos long enough then you know what he’s like, and none of this is that surprising. You can practically hear Linus’ condescending tone in some of the stuff that Madison’s quoted.

You see staff frequently make excuses for his attitude, saying that he just “cares” a lot about what they’re doing and wants it to be right.

Definitely sounds like a scam.

If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably a scam.

One thing that bothers me about the billets stuff is they stand by their core point, which is that it’s a useless product.

But that’s not the only thing they’ve claimed. They also said it’s a bad product that doesn’t work properly, thus damaging the company’s reputation.

To most people that’s a significant difference for how they view the company:

“Useless” product that works well at what it does = hopefully this company will make something more relevant in future

“Useless” product that doesn’t even work properly = I’ll avoid this company in future

Clickbait used to be reserved for the title/thumbnail, but now it’s ingrained in the content itself and goes hand in hand with the drop in quality.

Before I stopped watching them I noticed the drop in quality. Can’t remember which video, but there was one with so many corrections it was absolutely ridiculous.

Social media is far worse.

Some people spend all their time on it arguing and being needlessly toxic, and they’re connected to it all day.

The (incorrect) idea with video games/metal was that they made people aggressive; meanwhile, social media is a platform where people actively go to be aggressive to other people and rile themselves up.

I agree, I just think that those lazy people will do what they do regardless of where they get their info.

To butcher a saying; blame the craftsman, not the tools.

Because forum posts are always full of accurate and helpful information?

In my experience it still makes good suggestions for most things, and is better than trying to phrase things in a way that Google likes, then trawling through irrelevant forum posts.

It’s only there to make suggestions, so if someone is taking its output without understanding and treating it like gospel then they’re an idiot who’s inevitably going to end up in a world of trouble.

If you take the suggestion, verify it with documentation, then make sure you actually understand it, chatGPT is a great tool.

I think it’s overblown tbh.

Chances of actually getting picked up on pirating are absolutely tiny, they only really care about capturing uploaders.

In 15 years of pirating without a VPN in the UK I’ve only ever received a single letter, which was just a half arsed scare tactic.

The constant reminders about the absolute need for a VPN to avoid getting caught is just VPN provider propaganda imo. It’s ideal to have it, but in reality you’ll be fine.
