A tech company becomes dominant through underhanded tactics? Say it ain’t so!

Kind of reads like Microsoft’s rise to dominance. Good find!

With all this talk I was just thinking… I hope the products provided are better quality than the toilet paper you get in public restrooms…

For better or worse this just points to a continued feeling of incompetence and a sense of being lost from Google

In my experience the best way to find out is to spin up your own instance and play around with it! Docker makes this super easy because you can throw it away after without making any changes to your server. Searxng works pretty easily in a docker container

As I recall someone made the same lame argument about the name being divisive, a fork was created called Glimpse and it fell on its face not long after it was formed. Things like this are a waste of energy, nobody cares that it’s called gimp.

Die? No there’s no way to put that genie back in the bottle. It might just be a little different going forward.

Of course threads would have higher download counts! By now everyone using X already has it installed while threads is a new service so you’d have to install the app to try it. What a brain dead article

I once heard her described as a living Bratz doll and I haven’t been able to forget it

That’s very impressive! I don’t know if I understand how I have things set up to properly map it out like this lol. Though it’s definitely not nearly as automated

Definitely agree with this recommendation! Jellyfin is quite awesome

Hey that’s the exact same time I heard about it! …and I’m the one who posted it. Brilliant me 🙃

My issue with Kodi is that each client had to scan the library and generate thumbnails etc. That should be the server’s job which is why I chose Jellyfin. Nicer UI too and more responsive with apps in stores so I don’t have to load it manually to fire sticks

That’s making gas more expensive for US drivers

yeah no kidding lol

In a better society we wouldn’t have congresspeople advocating for executions based on personal beliefs.

Why can’t we cut military spending instead? It’s definitely going to shitty contractors and not to veteran health care anyway

yeah it worked for you, you miserable old fuck. unfortunately it’s failed everyone else

Literally came here to say this lol

You don’t need a server rack to have fun self hosting things at home :)

I guess shoving an encyclopedia into it. I’m not sure really, it is a good point. Perhaps AI bias is as inevitable as human bias…

It’s the end result of training your AI on mountains of biased human thoughts

Remember when you were told as a kid to stand up for the truth even if you’re standing alone? Well… You’re alone in that party honey lol

I don’t understand why Adobe was allowed to survive as a company when Flash player had like 500 security vulnerabilities daily.

I still don’t understand why they don’t use the existing functional activitypub instead of trying to reinvent the wheel?

I loved this however my only disappointment is that you can’t use it as a server others can connect to and use the chat interface

Okay but what happens if you don’t have a good net connection like at the coffee shop or airports? I swear sometimes people are clueless and just assume you always have good internet when that’s not often the case!

Just throwing it out there that large hard drives are inexpensive and there’s free software out there like jellyfin to let you play your own media on devices. Data acquisition is up to you of course but that’s not particularly difficult either. So just become your own streaming service!
