Wow, didn’t expect that. I loved his book and recommend everyone to read it.

Really enjoyed his book as well. While all the tech stuff was cool, what really impressed me was how much he was able to do by just acting confident and working the people around him. Like calling up companies and asking for information (with just enough insider knowledge) and getting what he needed. The social aspect was really interesting to read about!

Which book? I’ve never heard of him before today but after reading a few articles I’d like to check out one of his books. Googling sends me quite a few results.

Also The Art of Deception, can’t recommend it enough. Really valuable book for social engineering and the mind of a hacker.

I don’t know the name in English, but I’d translate it as Art of Deception or something similar. It’s a really great book.

He has several, I’ve read “The Art of Deception” and “The Art of Intrusion” which are both fantastic and interesting reads. He has another in the “Art of…” series and possibly others too.

The last one is The Art of Invisibility, which came out in 2017.

Oh no….this is really sad to hear. If anyone is interested, here is a good documentary to watch https://youtu.be/WN4fCK23Srk (Freedom Downtime)

Survived by his wife and unborn child 😔. Cancer sucks.

Damn man fuck cancer. Sucks he had such an influence on young me. I guess Kevin is finally free now, rest in peace.

As a newly minted parent, the “unborn child” was a real gut punch. I’m not the type to get overly emotional about celebrity deaths but when I read that, I felt it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin twice. Once in 2008 at the H.O.P.E conference and again in 2017 when he and his company were contracted to do physical pen testing at our office. He was always very charismatic and kind in person. I’m sure he’ll be missed.

Shit. Didn’t expect him to go so young. RIP.

He was given a few weeks to live after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he fought for 11 months.

Wow that’s so sad to hear. I remember following the whole Free Kevin movement when I was a teen and getting into computers. Crazy that he died so young.

RIP to a fellow OpenVMS hobbyist.
