Why would it need to encapsulate that Git is a pull/push model ? What the name should do is describe what it is, and it is a call for reviews before merging, so “review request” or “merge request” are names that would make sense. When web interfaces weren’t used, it made sense to ask for reviewers to pull for reviewing, but now it’s a minority of them that are pulled by reviewers.
Edit: Was not aware of the Torovoltos copypasta when I wrote the below.
That sounds more Greek than Russian.
“Lën Nikolaevitch Torpravi(tel)sky” would be a Russified calque of Torvalds’ name, although that has at least a couple of issues with it. (1: The first word is literally “Linen”. Same root, but no personal name developed from that root in Russian that I can see. 2: No-one has either surname.)
There’s an episode of Kitchen Nightmares (UK) where he fights with a French chef, each cursing in their own language. I imagine it would go something like that.

Where is it MR and not PR?
gitlab / bitbucket
I wish MR would become the standard, I almost never pull an MR, PR doesn’t make sense anymore.
It’s the nature of pull vs push model. Merge Request doesn’t encapsulate that. But you do merge a pull request.

Do they still automatically word replace his comments? If I recall correctly “fuck” was getting changed to “hug”. Motherhuggers.
I wonder what they changed “retroactively aborted” to

I think we’re talking about the one that plays piano all the time.

I think you may be Gen Z.
Technically on the cusp of Gen X / Millennial. Been on the Internet a looong time, but I still don’t know all the memes.
Having now web-searched that name, I am now aware of the copypasta.
Glad that you educated yourself before it was about to be…
You truly are old, aren’t you?
If you wanted to say what I said without using a genericised trademark, how would you say it?
Nice username by the way.
Gordon Ramsey on his worst tirade is basically Linus just wishing you a good morning in a cheery tone.
I kinda wanna see Gordon Ramsay go through a Merge Request.
