In the last few days, I played a lot of the older Tom Clancy Games. One thing I noticed, that they all gone for a more tactical approach, without compromising on the accessibility. You can play it, come back days later and still be decent in it. In today’s gaming world, there is a plethora of options of tactical shooter to choose from. Be it “Zero Hour”, “Ground Branch” or “Ready or Not”. But they all feel so focused on being realistic and hard, while I am searching for something more “arcady”. So I am searching for recommendations for some modern tactical shooters, that are still accessible and easy to pop in to even after days of not playing. Bonus if it’s single player.
Games I liked: Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Caliber, SOCOM
From video gaming to card games and stuff in between, if it’s gaming you can probably discuss it here!

If you liked splinter cell I’d definitely recommend taking a look at the new deus ex titles. They’re more of immersive sim games but they have tactical shooter and stealth elements just like splinter cell
I loved those too!
Hmm then I suppose you can try hotline miami? It’s very arcadey but the levels are challenging enough that you do need to think about strategy and tactics for getting around the difficulty. It is 2D top-down though
You didn’t list it, but what about Doom?
Maybe I am wrong, but I wouldn’t consider Doom as a tactical shooter. But thanks for the recommendation!
Doom Eternal is definitely more tactical than the 2016 remake
It is tactical in the sense that the combat arenas and enemies require you to think about what weapon you’re using and when, but all of the decision-making is “in the moment”. I think OP is looking for games that require you to think about your approach to encounters before you start them, but where the game is “arcadey” in the sense that it isn’t a full-on MilSim.
Try Insurgency Sandstorm.
I really liked the first one, so maybe I really should take a look. Thanks!
Depends on what you call the first one. The very first one was a mod for Half-Life 2, then a proper game in itself using the Valve Source engine, and now Sandstorm a Unreal Engine-powered game.
In any case, the gun-play is amazing. You can also switch from arcade to more tactical by playing normal or hardcore servers.
If you’re familiar with the planning phase of Rainbow Six 1-3, and that sounds like something you’re looking for, I’d recommend Door Kickers.
