People that have this opinion often only play AAA games. There are a lot of indie games that channel old-school game energy and improve upon them. Shovel Knight for example is a lot better than old platformers wish they were. A Hat in Time is a ton of fun compared to the vast majority of PS2/Gamecube 3D platformers. Hollow Knight is better than any Metroid game (I know a lot of people would disagree, though).

It’s been so long… Too long… I pray it releases this year.

Content Warning Blows Up on Steam With Free-to-Keep Promotion for First 24 Hours
Unfortunately the article came a bit late, the promotion is already over. The game seems really good however.

They went bankrupt but got picked up by another company years later. They got a big chunk of the original team back on board, then they made The Expanse game, then they fired most of the team again.

Their future is pretty uncertain right now.

I love Telltale’s stuff, but they’re a bit hit or miss for me. I really liked The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands, but really didn’t care for The Walking Dead sequels and Batman. A lot of companies tried to replicate what they had but they never had writing as good.

That said, Telltale really needed some alternate endings. There’s only so much “X will remember this” I can read before I realize how little my actions matter.

I’m sadly not optimistic that The Wolf Among Us 2 is ever coming out. They laid off most of their staff half a year ago.

It’s a remake of an older Playstation 1 game. It gets a lot of hate but I honestly think it’s very charming.

Daxter and MediEvil Resurrection are two of my favorites.

The soundtrack to that game got burned in my head forever…

Pata pata pata pon. Dunka dunka dunka don. Pon pon pata pon.

You can’t talk PS2 without mentioning Jak and Daxter or Ratcher and Clank. Each trilogy is incredible and absolutely worth a play.

> Decide to create a very basic GUI app in Rust, as everyone is saying it’s a great language for it

> First compilation takes over 15 minutes to download and compile 100 libraries

> Debug files take up 2GB of storage

> Output binary file comes out massive for no reason

> “Yeah you’re supposed to write a few lines to optimize for size in your release profile”

> Compiling now takes 30 minutes instead

no general purposd language can guarantee a lack of memory leaks

You’re going to summon every Rust enthusiast on the platform

I’ve seen this browser pop up occasionally and I still don’t understand a single thing about why it exists. The only thing I know is that they really, really, really, really love Apple. Their FAQ says:

In other words, Arc is to your ex-browser what the iPhone was to cellphones. Or as one of our members said “like moving from a PC to a Mac.” It’s from the future — and just feels great.

Yeah pffft, imagine using an Android phone in current year. We’re like Apple so much that we also throw a bunch of buzzwords instead of explaining the product.

Also their #1 selling point is privacy and how they’ll never sell your data but uh… Firefox exists… And it’s open source, unlike this…

I second Java. It’s easy to get into, has a lot of materials online, and is statically typed which is great for teaching. Most people who start with Python or JS didn’t have a good grasp of variable types and often make more mistakes.

I’ve already heard of people using Termux to host services on their old phones. Seems to work well.

Awesome, I actually replayed a few of the flash games last year. The submachine series holds up really well, glad to see it get revived.

Being a patient gamer has worked out once again. I’m planning on picking the game up in about a month after they ironed out most of the issues with the big update. Excited to finally try the game after hearing so much about it.

FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3) - AMD Stage Presentation | gamescom 2023
TL;DW: * FSR 3 is frame generation, similar to DLSS 3. It can greatly increase FPS to 2-3x. * FSR 3 can run on any GPU, including consoles. They made a point about how it would be dumb to limit it to only the newest generation of cards. * Every DX11 & DX12 game can take advantage of this tech via HYPR-RX, which is AMD's software for boosting frames and decreasing latency. * Games will start using it by early fall, public launch will be by Q1 2024 It's left to be seen how good or noticeable FSR3 will be, but if it actually runs well I think we can expect tons of games (especially on console) to make use of it.

Hopefully what’s on the disk could be salvaged from a computer shop or something. 4tb SSD though… Ouch.

Especially if you are a fan of the action RPG genre. It will require a bit of patience, as the opening and closing acts are a protracted slog, in addition to numerous bugs, but the foundation is set for a sequel that capitalizes on the promise of this new IP. ------------- **[IGN](https://opencritic.com/outlet/56/ign)** - [Gabriel Moss](https://opencritic.com/critic/6589/gabriel-moss) - [7 / 10](https://www.ign.com/articles/atlas-fallen-review) >Atlas Fallen is a solid open-world action RPG with plenty of platforming and large monsters to fight with a co-op buddy, so long as neither of you cares about story or is a stickler for high-quality textures. ------------- **[Kotaku](https://opencritic.com/outlet/276/kotaku)** - [Ethan Gach](https://opencritic.com/critic/1454/ethan-gach) - [Unscored](https://kotaku.com/atlas-fallen-review-dark-soul-open-world-action-rpg-1850721874) >Deck13’s latest can’t get off the ground. Thankfully, simple things like surfing the sands of a ginormous desert wasteland and taking on behemoth beasts mean I can enjoy the game for what it is instead of what it could have been. ------------- **[Press Start](https://opencritic.com/outlet/491/press-start)** - [James Wood](https://opencritic.com/critic/5294/james-wood) - [6 / 10](https://press-start.com.au/reviews/ps5-reviews/2023/08/10/atlas-fallen-review/) >Atlas Fallen layers interesting and engaging combat systems onto a lacklustre world and frustrating camera controls making for an uneven and forgettable fantasy action outing. Deck13 continues its work of innovating the genre in interesting ways but there's just a little too much going on for Atlas Fallen to ever find solid ground. ------------- **[Push Square](https://opencritic.com/outlet/25/push-square)** - [Liam Croft](https://opencritic.com/critic/1009/liam-croft) - [7 / 10](https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps5/atlas-fallen) >It's disappointing to come up against a few too many flaws, but when Atlas Fallen is on form, its marriage of movement and fighting shines through. ------------- **[Rock, Paper, Shotgun](https://opencritic.com/outlet/270/rock-paper-shotgun)** - [Ed Thorn](https://opencritic.com/critic/7538/ed-thorn) - [Unscored](https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/atlas-fallen-review) >An action adventure with endearing six-out-of-ten jank, carried by weighty combat with heaps of style and customisation. ------------- **[TechRaptor](https://opencritic.com/outlet/329/techraptor)** - [Rutledge Daugette](https://opencritic.com/critic/2042/rutledge-daugette) - [9 / 10](https://techraptor.net/gaming/reviews/atlas-fallen-review) >With exploration enhanced by fun traversal, a progression system that doesn't tie you to levels, and combat that never gets boring with flashy abilities and fast-paced movement - Atlas Fallen is definitely worth your time. ------------- **[TheSixthAxis](https://opencritic.com/outlet/68/thesixthaxis)** - [Gareth Chadwick](https://opencritic.com/critic/317/gareth-chadwick) - [5 / 10](https://www.thesixthaxis.com/?p=442678) >Atlas Fallen is at its best when you're fighting huge enemies with your carefully constructed (by trial and error) build, but when you're repeatedly fighting the same enemies, when the story falls flat, and the environments blend into one, it starts to get dull and frustrating quickly. ------------- **[Try Hard Guides](https://opencritic.com/outlet/855/try-hard-guides)** - [4 / 10](https://tryhardguides.com/atlas-fallen-review/) >Atlas Fallen is a game that wants to be so many things, but fails to be any of them. It wants to be the next epic fantasy universe, but lacks the originality or compelling writing to do so. It wants to be an action game akin to its inspirations, but can’t quite deliver on the mechanics it’s inspired by. It wants to be an amazing piece of visual art, but delivers stunning vistas alongside jilted animations and boring enemy designs. It’s a game with deceptive marketing, showing off an inaccurate portrayal of the experience ahead, and one that feels like it had too many teams working on it at once. Unfortunately, it’s also one you should probably give a wide berth. ------------- **[Worth Playing](https://opencritic.com/outlet/64/worth-playing)** - [Cody Medellin](https://opencritic.com/critic/4182/cody-medellin) - [7 / 10](https://worthplaying.com/article/2023/8/10/reviews/138567-pc-review-atlas-fallen/) >Atlas Fallen is fine in parts and frustrating in others. The world seems fascinating, but the characters are the least compelling part of the story. The combat can feel fluid, and the number of powers you can use makes for a good deal of build possibilities. You'll wish there were more weapons, though. Traversal is fun, but you will need to ignore Nyaal, who often calls out things that are nowhere in the proximity. The development team could've used some more time to tighten things up, but ultimately, Atlas Fallen remains a good distraction in between other, more polished action-adventure games. ------------- **[XboxEra](https://opencritic.com/outlet/758/xboxera)** - [Jesse Norris](https://opencritic.com/critic/7583/jesse-norris) - [6.9 / 10](https://xboxera.com/2023/08/09/review-atlas-fallen/) >Atlas Fallen is close to being damned good. It is let down by a lack of variety in enemy encounters, poor side quests, and dreadful writing. Still, the combat quickly becomes damned fun and with the option of co-op, it’s well worth checking out if you want some God of Crackdown-style action platforming adventures.

Yup, claude is general-purpose and has its own website: https://claude.ai/

Unlike ChatGPT it also doesn’t need a phone number.

Unfortunately there isn’t any free/open source LLM that’s as good as ChatGPT. The ones that are here like Llama 2 and Vicuna 1.5 are decent, but are pretty dumb and love spouting random incorrect info and are really unreliable. The biggest problem isn’t even that, it’s that hosting one yourself requires a TON of resources. The higher-end models (still not as good as ChatGPT) can need over 20gb of VRAM. For reference an RTX 4090 has 24gb vram.

You might have better luck trying alternatives to ChatGPT. I personally use Claude, it’s less censored and has knowledge up to 2023.
