What an update to an old Resident Evil game on Steam means for Capcom’s approach to PC mods

Not only that, but Capcom seems to be adding this Enigma Protector bullshit to their back catalog as well, if this Steam forum discussion is to be believed. Bet this borks the games on Linux and Steam Deck now.

There should be a cutoff period for game updates. Give them about a year to finish the game they released and that’s it.

Welp, this will only make people yar harder

What the frick is their reasoning for this? Retroactively introducing DRM/anti-tampering does NOTHING but cause bad press and weary fans.

They are VERY mad about mods.

The link’s broken for me but I assume it’s the RE8 Dimitrescu flyswatter thing?

The link should work now, but I also found out they were doing this.

This article might be a bit late? Other news media saying the decision has been reversed already

MSN Article to that effect.

I honestly didn’t even know that Capcom was still around. Time for a boycott?

This is why I only buy DRM free games from GoG and download them forever so my copy stays the way it should be. With me and DRM free.

banning mods on single player games 🤔
