FPTP has generally benefitted the LPC. I remember an analysis I read about the time they were “promising” election reform that said in close races, over 60% of the time the Liberals ended up with the election. Wish I could still find it, my google-fu is failing me tonight.
Besides, this bill had nothing to do with that. It wasn’t going to fix anything even if it had passed.
Yeah I really hope that we gain traction for this within our lifetimes because I think it will be the first step in helping our democracy reflect the will of the people

Sponsored by NDP MP Lisa Marie Barron, the motion calls on the federal government to establish a citizens assembly to "determine if electoral reform is recommended for Canada, and, if so, recommend specific measures that would foster a healthier democracy
Seems wrong that the elected people get to decide if we change how they get elected. Once they have their seat they can fight to keep it against electoral change.

I’m oddly proud of BC, way to get a majority there guys.
But major kudos to Quebec, your MP’s are actually listening (here), but also NWT, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, PWI, and the Yukon.
As is tradition though, the prairies let us down.

I can appreciate someone voting for their ideals rather than for their interests.
Seems wrong that the elected people get to decide if we change how they get elected. Once they have their seat they can fight to keep it against electoral change.
