This is why I hate Twitter and Facebook. Their algorithms are designed to promote posts that cause political division.

Any service where you viewing ads is the actual product is the same. YouTube reliably will serve me up recommended videos with titles like “dumb lib-slammed!” or “pwning liberals at the library” or other random things. I never watch them and am confused why they keep sending them my way. The stuff being foisted on people is just toxic.

Not sure if you’ve seen the add-on dearrow. It rewrites those annoying click-bait titles and changes thumbnails so the experience isn’t so Idiocracy.

A lot of them are. I’ve seen some of them in the Hispanic circles. They spew dog-whistles or insane LGBT+ stuff that no one in the community does or thinks, but conservatives lap it up like it’s chocolate fudge instead of the excrement it really is.

In an alternative world, I wouldn’t mind if the goal was something like that Black Mirror episode, “Hated in the Nation” (how ironic posting this on Beehaw 🐝).

Things like acting like MAPs (pedophiles) are part of the LGBTQIA+ community when the core principle of the LGBTQIA+ is “let consenting parties do as they wish” and a pedophilic relationship intrinsically lacks consent

Exactly.

And because conservatives want to believe that of minorities, they will not step back to think why they’re being bombarded with all these “satirical” propaganda accounts.

WaPo: Twitter has false users designed to undermine the political process by spreading manufactured outrage!!! We’re shocked! Shocked! There’s gambling going on in here!

She’s been especially popular with conservatives, who promoted her as a perfect symbol of how overly theatric and inane progressives can be — like when she attacked the Supreme Court’s affirmative-action decision last week by saying “no Black person will be able to succeed in a merit-based system.” The tweet was viewed more than 27 million times.

There had to be signs before it got this far…had to be. Any word yet on who (or what group) was behind the account? This is like that “liberal leaning” TikTok account that was exposed as being faked. I’m very careful of quoting or up voting any emotionally charged hot-takes on things, especially when I agree with them. It’s hard to tell when people are acting in good faith these days.

There were - how over the top the account was. That birbsite account was the equivalent of a stalking horse in a political campaign - somebody who pretends to be on the same side as a candidate but is so far out there that they make the real candidate look bad.
