That’s still far away from us as a consumer standpoint, but I’m eagerly waiting for a time when I could buy a RISC V laptop with atleast midrange computing capabalities

Well probably the average Joe may not even know what a server is, not even being able to chose a server which is the best suited for him.

Well that can be understandable, but AFAIK podman generate still works, so if you can’t do something with Quadlet, then you can stays with generate until then. For example, I’m using Quadlet and now podman generate too since my Rocky 9 podman can’t be upgraded to podman 5 which means no pod support for you.

I’m a pretty Podman novice guy too but I’m running quadlets since it automatically creates and runs these containers just like the other services would be with systemd. In terms of networking I can usually access to my container via publishing a port and using the PC’s IP where the container is running, and this is the default network that Podman uses initially.

I have a Jellyfin quadlet config, that may help you. I’ve had numerous sufferings to make a working one, but here you go (These 3 files are in ~/.config/containers/systemd/jellyfin):

Description=Jellyfin Media Server
After=network.target

[Container]
Image=lscr.io/linuxserver/jellyfin:latest
PublishPort=8096:8096
Volume=jellyfin-config.volume:/config:Z
Volume=jellyfin-cache:/cache:Z
Volume=/home/USERNAME/media/storage1/Filmek:/data/Filmek:Z,U
Volume=/home/USERNAME/media/storage1/Sorozatok:/data/Sorozatok:Z,U

[Service]
Restart=on-failure

[Install]
WantedBy=default.target
[Unit]
Description=Jellyfin Cache Volume

[Volume]

Description=Jellyfin Config Volume

Please do ask questions if you have any. ^^

Hot take, but this police cybertruck looks pretty rad tbh, putting the obvious real life issues aside tho.

Tbf I have never looked at Assassin’s Creed as a historically accurate game. It can really be only called accurate in broad terms probably. (Only played Black Flag and Odyssey tho).

She seems to bring up pretty great points, like harrassing her, complaining about not hot enough greek god girl, but I’m interested about the other side.

Also she worked at Kotaku in the past, so listening to these gamergate people too could help to make a throught decision overall

My friend invited me to VRChat. It was pretty great to play with his friends, since I’m way too anxious to meet other people in VR in public lobbies.

He reignited my desire to this game :3

Being a poor elementary school kid who wanted to play the trendy singleplayer games.

Jumped back on to the Kingdom Come Deliverance vibe. Now I will master that god-damn swordfighting instead of only just trying to kill bandits via a horse far away from them.

Hello! The idea is phenomenal, although I feel that some or most of the genAI images look uncanny usually. I would honestly prefer human made arts, but those could be really costly, so that’s totally understandable. I’m impartial on this decision tho, do anything you like! ^^

Also we can lengthen the rotation process tho. A weekly or monthly change would be plenty sufficient, but it’s just a small preference.

It doesn’t even start unfortunately, but thanks for your help tho!

Doesn’t work either with both running this before starting/building the container and also while running it. Thanks for the help tho!

I’m doing rootless most likely, I just use the default Rocky Linux 9 setup with the Container Tools option turned on while the setup process. This didn’t work either for me. Did you start the service in sudo systemctl or in systemctl --user mode? Thanks for your help!

Okay so I’ve done these steps (it seems rootless podman have been setup by Rocky automatically):

  1. Get subuid:subgid with /etc/subuid:

privatenoob:100000:65536

2.:Changed ExecStart to this:

ExecStart=podman run --name=radarr -u 100000:65536 -p 7878:7878 -v radarr-config:/config -v /home/privatenoob/media/storage1/Filmek:/data --restart unless-stopped lscr.io/linuxserver/radarr:latest

3.: podman unshare chown -R 100000:65536 /home/privatenoob/media/storage1/Filmek/

Unfortunately unsharing gave me invalid arguments.

chown: changing ownership of '/home/privatenoob/media/storage1/Filmek/': Invalid argument

I have tried by leaving the -e PUID=1000 parts on but those didn’t work either. Yeah and I’m using systemctl --user. Thanks for your help!

I'm trying to setup my first homeserver with pods alone but I can't add my mounted /data (it's an external HDD) folder to the root folder, but the /app and /config works. It's a common issue but somehow I wasn't able to solve it. OS: Rocky Linux 9.3 External HDD (WD Elements) external HDD in /etc/fstab: ``` # WD Elements drive UUID=4655386a-5ccf-4c7b-ad6a-c0b90ccf8454 /home/privatenoob/media/storage1 xfs defaults 0 0 ``` radarr.service: ``` [Unit] Description=Radarr Movie Server After=network.target [Service] ExecStart=podman run --name=radarr -e PUID=1000 -e PGID=1000 -e UMASK=002 -p 7878:7878 -v radarr-config:/config -v /home/privatenoob/media/storage1/Filmek:/data --restart unless-stopped lscr.io/linuxserver/radarr:latest ExecStop=podman stop radarr Restart=on-failure [Install] WantedBy=default.target ``` Permissions: ``` drwxr-xr-x. 2 privatenoob privatenoob 6 Jan 17 16:52 Filmek drwxr-xr-x 4 abc users 139 Jan 18 19:44 config drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 6 Jan 17 15:52 data ``` chown -R 1000:1000 /data didn't work. It gave permission denied, even though I used root (probably this is because of -e PUID=1000?)

I’m stuck in a family plan with 4 of my friends + a friend’s sister. I’m open to getting a Family Tidal Hifi Plus, but I’m not so sure, if all of them are willing to change for a higher tier and using a different servicr.

Yes that can be a wise solution, can’t argue with that but I don’t want to normalise the idea of releasing games in a heavily underbaked condition, which unfortunately became the norm in the recent years (although releasing too early was common in the 2000’s as well).

EDIT: I know your comment wasn’t about normalizing underbaked games at release, but I just wanted to rant a little bit.

Oh yeah I have completely forgot about the specialized industries. Yes you’re absolutely right, that system works way way better than the Industries DLC version.

1920x1080, even though I have a 1440p monitor.

7600X + 6700 XT combo here.

Performance is surprisingly bearable, but the lack of optimization is really obvious. For example when you want to place a cemetery, it lags like a LOT., when terraforiming often times the height gets messed up, because of stutters. Using CPP’s 100k population, I get an 30-33 FPS while zoomed in the downtown.

Gameplay features are hit or miss. Road tools are literally amazing, but has it’s drawbacks. Somehow sometimes 90 degree intersections don’t actually turn out as 90, can’t edit lines like TM:PE, traffic sign options are a literal joke. For example you can apply stop signs onto an intersection and it just applies a FOUR WAY stop signs. No other options. Also no bike paths (will come in the future freely), no zoning like in the Industries, University, Parks DLC, lack of props (like parks for example), etc.

Buildings looks pretty cool, but these european buildings doesn’t seem that european to me (Although haven’t checked highrise yet), scaling is weird for schools, like elementary and HS is absolutely HUGE.

TLDR: It’s really really underbaked, should’ve delayed it like 6 months. I have refunded the game and returned back to C:S 1 with DLC unlocker.

Yeah that’s why I was amazed that despite the API call translation, and possible Vulkan perf loss (even if it’s not abolute) Linux still is really comparable in gaming perf to Windows, which applies that Windows optimization is pretty trash.

Interested to see other games tho. As I see, Linux performance is wildly different from game to game. For example in CP 2077 it decisively beats the Win 11, but in other games it lacks behind by 0-5%, which is claimed to be the expected perf loss compared to Win in average by the masses.

EDIT: Since WIne translated DirectX calls to Vulkan, and Vulkan currently giving a bit less FPS compared to DirectX, it’s amazing that Linux still only lags behind by 5% max on average.

Holy hell the system specs has risen? Oof my newly built PC is already not fully recommended already. AAAAH

KBM EVERYWHERE. Unfortunately I’m starting to feel the dreaded wrist pain because of that, so I may need to diversify myself with a controller.

Uhm I’m new here. Do I tell about the game I’ve played in this week, or what will be played on the next week?

If it’s the first one, then I’m in the middle of siphoning as many titles as possible from the Karling and Makedon dynasty in Crusader Kings 3 as the Piast family with Polania/Poland. Somehow I’ve managed to create an heir from the Piast family to the Byzantine Empire just with marriage. Karling dynasty still has 2+ kingdoms and several duchies. Another priority is to take Jerusalem from the Muslims.

I love violence and superior gene breedings. :3

Not really tbh, but Intel has adopted the little.BIG architecture which means those CPUs are have high and low performance cores, just like in the ARM/mobile CPUs. Currently these low perf cores aren’t detected correctly in Windows, and as a result it actually worsens gaming performance, but I assume this will be corrected? In synthetic/theory 13600K is better at multithreaded (https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/5172vs5008/AMD-Ryzen-5-7600-vs-Intel-i5-13600K).

This is my build:

Looks cool to me, if you’re not planning to upgrade to more power hungry components. Actually I bought a new PC too in early summer partly for C:S 2 too, and your specs are pretty similar, although you should consider some things.

1.: Assuming that you will utilize a lot of mods and custom assets, a 32 GB RAM should be needed

2.: Since C:S 2 is finally multithreaded, you could also check out Intel (if you don’t care about consumption), since theoretically it offers better multithreaded performance.

(Gonna post my build in the morning)

What about the avalanche mission? Did you find that too Micheal Bay movie-like?

Honestly I loved The Run. It was a jam packed unique short game experience. It was definitely too short for it’s price, but you know at that time Blackbox was working on 3 separate games.

  1. Romania
  2. Sweden
  3. Greenland
  4. South Africa
  5. Cyprus

Just random answers, since you’re question kinda implies it won’t be full with obvious looking countries

What do you mean by formative horror? A horror game that had ultimately planted your interest in the horror genre?

In Linux doesn’t DX calls get converted to Vulkan calls?
