Are any of those things that you actually deal with as a beginner, though? Sure, those add complexities, but by the time you start to get into them, you are probably no longer a beginner.


My issue with Stardew Valley content updates is that they change how the game works. It is not just adding extra postgame missions or something. The content updates tend to fundamentally change how some things work. Your possible/preferred routes to reach endgame today are much different than they were in 2016. It makes it feel like perpetual Early Access.


I am becoming the same way. Maybe I am just old, but I miss the days of buying something and having a finished product. Instead, we have games like this and Stardew Valley that release in an incomplete state and are still receiving major content updates almost a decade later.



What is arguably even more egregious is having X/Y backwards. On a graph, X is the horizontal axis, Y is the vertical axis. Xbox got it right.

Why would you assume that a game would not require Play Services? I have experienced that issue many times, including with Stardew Valley.

As of now, we only support macOS.

We are a small team, so it’s critical for us to be laser-focused. As a startup, one of our key priorities at this early phase is learning, and right now, we’re focused on the following questions:

  • What are the key features we need to get traction on any platform?
  • Are our assumptions about our eventual business model valid?

While we’d love to support users on Linux and Windows, adding those platforms doesn’t really help us answer those questions. We’re investing a lot to make Zed portable, but adding other platforms comes with opportunity cost in the short-term and maintenance overhead going forward. Right now those costs don’t make sense for us.

As Zed matures on a single platform, this cost/benefit ratio will shift, and it will make sense to expand to other platforms. We hope you’ll give it a try when that happens.

I just wish the Flatpak had a more keyboard/controller friendly UI. Seeking around the current video using KB/controller is fine, but navigating the UI to pick what to watch pretty much requires a mouse.

Installing yt-dlp is a little more finicky than just installing the pip module within Termux, but I was able to use this to get it set up:

I thought a fresh install was blank, and you had to manually add plugins for each search provider that you chose to use.



Would I change my IP address through my router settings or the OpenVPN app on my client? I cannot find a way to set the IP through my router settings.

In Mullvad, the IP ranges in that menu you mentioned are:

  • 10.0.0.0/8
  • 172.16.0.0/12
  • 192.168.0.0/16
  • 169.254.0.0/16
  • 0xfe80::/10
  • 0xfc00::/7

Connecting through OpenVPN gives me the IP address 192.168.254.2. In the OpenVPN app, changing my IP address makes it so I cannot ping any devices on the network.

I definitely have that enabled. Like I said, I can connect to it from a different device on the network, just not from a device “pretending” to be on the network via OpenVPN.


VPN blocking VPN connections
Slightly confusing, and not necessarily directly piracy-related. I run OpenVPN on my Netgear router that allows me to connect to devices on my home network while I am away from home. It works great for most devices, but I cannot connect to any devices that are running Mullvad VPN. Disabling Mullvad on those devices allows me to connect. Also, if I SSH into a device that does *not* run Mullvad, I can use that SSH session to then communicate with those Mullvad devices. Any ideas?

All I saw was S1, and I felt like the ending was pretty unsatisfying. Like it was leading up to a S2 that never happened.


As I understand, when you update npm packages, if a package/version is specified in package-lock.json, it will not get updated past that version. But running those pip commands you mentioned is only going to affect what version gets installed initially. From what I can tell, nothing about those commands is stopping pip from eventually updating a package past what you had specified in the requirements.txt that you installed from.


Would that just create a list of the current packages/versions without actually locking anything?



I imagine unless you’re self employed, you are probably given a machine to work on with a predefined operating system picked by your employer.

And it’s all managed by the IT department. I use Linux on all my personal devices, but on my work computer, I don’t deal with ads, bloatware, or most other things that people complain about Windows because IT took care of that already through group policy and whatnot.
