You’re right, I’m not a Democrat. I’m a socialist and anti-fascist. My interest right now is seeing the fascist lose. I don’t see a path for Biden to win.

Biden shouldn’t have run again. The Dems should have primaried him. If they had, all of this would have been apparent long ago, but instead his aids have tightly controlled his media appearances for months to hide his cognitive decline from everyone except those playing close attention.

It only gets worse for Biden from here. He is at both his floor and ceiling, he has the “vote blue no matter who” and that’s it.

There is definitely risk in running Kamala or someone else at the top of the ticket. They might lose anyways. But any other Dem would start approximately at Biden’s spot in the polls and then have numerous paths to get where we need to beat Trump.

You think Biden will get younger? The media will stop covering his fuck ups every time he steps foot in front of a camera? I don’t see how Biden can gain so much ground short of discovering the fountain of youth.

I love ABS, I use it for both podcasts and audiobooks.

If the feds connect to the tracker before the file is fully seeded, the IP address of the lone seeder will be exposed. Torrents are good for their resistance to censorship, but they’re bad for privacy.

From their telegram:

final hack~

over the past 7 days, we have released a hack every day, from NATO to Israel, we attacked many. we have one more gift for you all, its one minute till midnight so i’ll start the show~

we hacked The Heritage Foundation :3 (holy moly!!!) The Heritage Foundation is a conservative think tank in America, among the most influential public policy organizations. this organization is responsible for leading Project 2025, an authoritarian Christian nationalist plan to reform the United States government.

Project 2025 threatens the rights of abortion healthcare and LGBTQ+ communities in particular. so of course, we won’t stand for that! -

we have gained access to The Heritage Foundation’s database, with user data, logs, and other juicy info :D we also accessed 200GB+ of other, mostly useless, files in their server. these useless files wont be leaked.

mew mew i wonder what would happen if we leaked the passwords, email addresses, and full names of every user :3 every US government employee, even the Heritage president Kevin Roberts.

be gay do crime~

LEAK: https://mega.nz/file/cD8mHRjD#YGxykiDiQMdvMz1SneiwPL6zTDBhs8rTxtUwQ9lEujM

#OpTransRights

thank you everyone who has supported us. we have an important announcement coming soon.

While it would defeat most if not all audio DRM, this would result in a lossy capture, whether by line-in or Bluetooth.

That scan only scans your hard drive once an hour.

To check rss feeds for new podcast episodes, you need to go to the settings of each podcast and schedule it to scan the podcast feed.

Yeah, VAC is the only AC I’m aware of that doesn’t have a driver component.

You could. Food is there for stealing. Land is there for growing on. People might shoot at you for trying, but you could.

I assume you’re speaking in jest?

There is no ethical consumption.

I’m pretty sure that phrase isn’t actually a call to apathy.

Not attempting to make a call to apathy. On the contrary, I just reject the idea that what you buy from who is leading to any material improvement in society. I think there are much better ways to push for positive change. Like sure, don’t buy the thing, but don’t fool yourself into thinking you’ve made a difference. Helping your community/mutual-aid, direct action, these are the sorts of things that I think go a lot further towards resulting in positive material changes.

I don’t know, I’m American, I can’t really eat if I don’t indirectly pay money to the largest neo-imperialist empire in the world (who is currently funding a genocide btw).

There is no ethical consumption. You either consume unethically or you die.

You don’t need jellyfin and Plex. They both do the same thing, so just pick one.

And per the torrenting; isn’t the point of using Debrid that you’re NOT torrenting? You’re letting the service provider do the torrenting for you and they just serve up the file to you via direct download over https. And in this case, your IP isn’t exposed in the same way it is when you torrent.

I’m not all that familiar with Debrid and you’re not exactly clear on what the issue is. But I will mention that I don’t think jellyseerr will work for you in this setup. Jellyseerr is meant to work with sonarr/radarr. It looks like to request content you have to add it to your watchlist in Plex instead.

As for VPN, isn’t the point of Debrid to avoid torrenting and direct download only? VPN probably isn’t necessary, but if you’re paranoid then just make sure only the Debrid rclone is going through the VPN, you don’t want Plex to go through the VPN as then you won’t be able to connect to it from your LAN.

Soooo whats the point of this ? Is it supposed to stop you from pirating the content from their sites . If so how exatcly when you can just literaly record screen ? I honestly struggle to understand the purpose of this.

Well, it kind of depends on the exact type of DRM being used. But yeah, some types of streaming DRM can be circumvented with a screen capture, but these will always be worse quality. There are two types for movies and shows you’ll see online when the source is a streaming site, either WEB-DL or WEB-Rip. WEB-Rip is sourced via a screen capture, I’m not super familiar, but there exists a standard called HDCP which is supposed to protect the content at the hardware/HDMI level. My understanding is this is largely ineffective as the HDCP master encryption keys have been in the public for quite some time. WEB-DL is when the raw video/audio is downloaded from the streaming provider and decrypted through some means, this is where defeating the browser-based (often Widevine) DRM often comes into play.

Yes, first was Afghanistan. But the Iraq invasion was still under the “war on terror”. Besides, I was simply referring to the author’s argument:

But he added that we had to consider what the US did when attacked on 9/11: it invaded Iraq, with 200,000 [his figures] killed in three years.

The article opens with “what about America’s response to 9/11?”. JFC, what a shitty justification. America was clearly wrong to war crime all over Iraq just as Israel is in the wrong for warcriming all over Palestine. I refuse to “both sides” imperialists and their victims. Frankly, “both sides” is the trap one should avoid.

And you’re able to transcode 4k with that? 1080p with hardware offload isn’t surprising, but 4k really requires some extra horsepower.

EDIT: Maybe I’m wrong, seems like quicksync even on a Celeron has gotten pretty good.

I don’t know for certain, but I think you’ll ultimately have to decide between either low power consumption or 4k transcoding. I doubt you’ll be able to achieve both.

Marathon was a bit before my time, but I definitely agree, the art style on the trailer for the new marathon looks really cool. But between cod dmz, marauders, the cycle frontier; I’m just a bit skeptical that anyone can properly replicate what makes Tarkov such an interesting and addicting game style.

That being said, definitely hoping for some proper competition to Tarkov as it has some serious issues that I don’t see getting fixed anytime soon.

Same, but I’m still eagerly waiting for someone to do the genre better then Tarkov. But so far, nothing has scratched the itch like Tarkov.

Exactly. That’s why I don’t enable email notifications on my phone, and I won’t see your 4am email until I roll into the office at 9:15am.

Can’t decide if I just want to renew everything for as long as possible to delay the price increase or just move to a different registrar.

I have half a mind to start releasing cracks just so there’s 1 cracker who isn’t a fucking bigot.

EDIT: btw, didn’t Voksi get arrested back in 2018? And EMPRESS started releasing cracks in like 2019. So are we to believe that Voksi goes to jail for a year, and immediately comes out and starts cracking again, all without receiving another visit from the feds? Doubt.

EDIT2: lol here’s Voksi’s response: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/2218172

Fuck EMPRESS and SKIDROW, SKIDROW for dragging Voksi into the petty bullshit and both of them for their childish, edgleord bullshit.

If this is the general spirit of piracy, I don’t know if I’m interested

I don’t use soulseek but no, I certainly wouldn’t describe that attitude as the general spirit of piracy. I’m mostly familiar with the private torrent trackers. While I’ve certainly come across fascists (EMPRESS is a good example, they’re pretty explicitly transphobic and include a bunch of slurs in their nfo’s), I generally come across plenty of libs and even some anarchists and communists. And based on events and how the private trackers are moderated, the staff, at least on the sites I use, they seem pretty alright. For example, I know of at least a couple trackers that ran events for pride month.

And from hanging out in leftist spaces, they seem especially cool with piracy. They’re anticapitalist after all, so it shouldn’t be a surprise.

In a way yes, when I post a comment, no one else will be able to see it while the site is down. But it eventually will go through when the site is up. And because I’m browsing from a different instance, I can see all the content even if lemmy.world is offline.

The problem is it’s the largest and is being attacked. Use a different instance and you’ll have no problem accessing this community. If it weren’t for people posting about the outages, I’d never even know.

Nginx-proxy-manager makes dealing with certs easier imo. You can either have it setup to double proxy (point to the nginx you already have running) or replace the existing nginx (you’ll have to copy the config into nginx-proxy-manager ui).

Over the years I’ve used Usenet, public trackers, and private trackers. I always come back to the private trackers.

If your public trackers have what you want at speeds you want, and you’re happy using a VPN for all downloads, then by all means.

But I like private trackers because I get my hands on the content ASAP (both because they get posted quickly but also because of high seeder ratios). The quality of the encodes on the good trackers is maintained by moderation teams. And often times I’m looking for rare content that can only be found on private trackers. Most have a request system that allows you to even get stuff not immediately available.

Yes you have to seed, but usually it’s doable to maintain a good ratio even with slow upload speeds (freeleech or bonus systems help here).

Basically Plex. Throw in sonarr, radarr, and overseerr for automating the content acquisition.

I got nervous thinking this meant PTP wasn’t coming back. Glad to hear that’s not the case!

Yeah checksums are useless. But if you know assembly, you could diff the original binary with the crack and look for anything malicious.

“Updated” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Lots of people don’t keep their software up to date.

But yeah, the likelihood of any of us randomly happening upon 0days in the wild is pretty low.

Futurama season numbering is messy and inconsistent. In some places the movies are counted. In some places, the aired ordering of episodes is used. In other places the dvd release order is used. I think there’s some seasons that were aired in 2 separate parts, so in some cases those are considered 2 seasons, or 2 half seasons, or 1 season.

Since both Plex and Sonarr use thetvdb, I tend to use that as the source of truth as well. And according to that site, s8e10 doesn’t air until end of September.

I’m aware of at least 1 or 2 private trackers using Discord, which is icky…

There’s a number of games like that being reverse engineered, Majora’s mask, minish cap, perfect dark, etc. But it’s a pretty slow and long process. And until the game is reverse engineered and a 1:1 decompilation achieved, the ports like sm64 and soh aren’t possible.
