I just have a UniFi firewall, a Synology Diskstation, and a linux server running everything. Provides torrenting, video streaming with plex, file sharing, game server hosting, music hosting, and more, and I don’t ever have to mess with it :). This is impressive but I don’t know if I would want to support it personally
Enable file sharing over the network in windows, create a directory on the 3TB drive, and right click the folder in Windows and select Share. It will broadcast as an SMB share over the network, and you can use it’s UNC path to access it from Linux.
In linux type $ mount -t cifs //YOURWINDOWSSHARE /mn and it will mount it as a network drive in linux that you can direct files to.
I think you meant to reply to my post. Yes it’s the exclusive trackers that keep you safe from needing a VPN, seeding is always part of torrenting. You can earn your way into those bigger private trackers by joining an invite forum and contributing enough, once you show good ratios form other sites you’ll get invites to the big ones like TorrentLeech
Yeah, this is like someone asking “how can I watch free movies” and then someone replying with how to build a business plan to run a company that films and produces movies.
Just install Plex on any old hardware and open it up to remote access. Get a cheap pfsense firewall and create a forwarding rule. Download torrents with qbtorrent on the box running Plex and have Plex indexing that folder. It doesn’t have to be a million steps of highly complex stuff. Lastly get a pihole set up with one of the many guides out there and you have essentially the same thing as this long, terrifying guide but with was less points of failure.
An article telling people to self host read only by those who already self host. Okay.
